Details | The High Desert Amateur Radio Group (HIDARG) is participating in the annual American Radio Relay League (ARRL) Field Day June 24 & 25. The annual event brings amateur radio operators and clubs together nationwide, and is an opportunity for amateur operators to practice the quick set-up of a communications post. It also involves a competition to see which station can make the most contacts on the air. Visitors will have an opportunity to operate a radio and try to make a distant contact, and will be instructed in how to obtain a ham radio license. The public is welcome Saturday between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. and Sunday between 8 and 11 a.m.
In Sisters, head south on Elm Street (it becomes Three Creek Road). Travel 11 miles and turn into the paved parking area at Upper Three Creek Sno-Park. HIDARG will be easy to spot: look for the long wire antennas high in the trees!
