School supplies are now being collected for students in need at Sisters Les Schwab, 600 W. Hood Ave., 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and until 5 p.m. Saturdays. The supplies will be distributed to Sisters students in need the week of August 25, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the FAN office, located in the Sisters School District Administration building.
SPRD Seeks Volunteers
Sisters Park & Recreation District is once again partnering with the Sisters Community Schools Initiative to provide an afterschool program at Sisters Elementary School. Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser
Bring family and friends to a traditional pancake breakfast at the Camp Sherman Community Hall on Sunday, August 31 from 8 to 11 a.m. Enjoy ham, eggs, pancakes, OJ and coffee. Hazardous Waste Dropoff
Deschutes County Dept. of Solid Waste is offering free household hazardous waste collection on Saturday, August 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Sisters High School (the west side of Reed Stadium). This is for household waste only; non-acceptable items are gas cylinders, business-generated waste, explosives, fireworks, ammunition, and radioactive or biohazardous waste. Small Projects Improvement Grant Program
The City of Sisters is offering grants through the Downtown Sisters Urban Renewal Agency Small Projects Improvement Grant Program for new trash enclosures. Grant applications are now available at City Hall: An individual tax lot is eligible for a maximum matching grant of $1,500 for the trash enclosure; all work must be performed by licensed contractors (minimum of three bids); applications are due by September 5.
