Child Safety Seat Clinic
Sisters-Camp Sherman RFPD will hold a child safety seat clinic on Friday, May 4 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Sisters Fire Hall, 301 S. Elm St. Nationally certified child passenger safety technicians will be on hand to inspect and educate caregivers on how to install and properly use the child safety seats. No appointment necessary; the checks take about 20 minutes. Questions? Call 541-549-0771.

Spring Concerts in May

Sisters High Desert Chorale will perform spring concerts at Sisters Community Church Friday, May 18 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, May 20 at 2:30 p.m. Admission is free and all are invited to "Singtime in Sisters." SPRD has Budget Committee Openings

The Sisters Park & Recreation District board is accepting applications to fill up to three budget committee vacancies. The committee reviews the budget document and will next meet on Tuesday, May 22 (with possible meeting May 23). Candidates must live in and be qualified voters of the district, and not officers or employees of the district. Submit letter of interest and résumé to SPRD, 1750 W. McKinney Butte Rd. Wall-raising Ceremony

The community is invited to a wall-raising ceremony with the Heart of Oregon Corps, Sisters Habitat for Humanity, and the Ayala family. It's happening Thursday, April 26 at 9 a.m. at 362 N. Desert Rose Lp. For more information please call Sisters Habitat at 541-549-1193.

Kindergarten Roundup

Sisters Elementary School will hold their annual Kindergarten Roundup pre-registration on Monday, April 30 in two sessions: one at 9 a.m. and another at 1 p.m. Children who will be age 5 on or before September 1, 2018 are eligible for the 2018-19 school year. Call the SES office at 541-549-8981 to schedule a pre-registration appointment. Partition of British India

At the Sisters Library on Saturday, April 28 at noon, UW professor Keith Snodgrass will explore how the British partition of India came about and how it resonates 70 years later, including how colonial practices contributed to how independence took place. For infomation call 541-312-1072.

Ten Friends Celebration

The annual Ten Friends Spring Celebration and Friend-raiser will be held Friday, April 27 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Aspen Hall in Bend. Better Half Marathon

Rodeo Parade Applications

One-Act Plays

Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, May 3, 4 & 5, local nonprofit Silent Echo Theater Company will premiere seven one-act plays by different playwrights at The Belfry. Veterans Meetings

The Sisters VFW Post 8138 and American Legion Post 86 have their next meeting on Wednesday, May 2 at 6:30 p.m. at Sisters City Hall. And they meet the the first Wednesday of each month, same time and place. All veterans in the Sisters area are welcome and encouraged to join. Questions? AARP Driver's Safety

Qigong Day in the Park

Annual Tea & Fashion Show

St. Edward the Martyr Roman Catholic Church will hold their 18th annual Tea & Fashion Show in the parish hall on Saturday, May 12 at 11 a.m. The luncheon includes a raffle, with fashions from Bedouin, Common Threads, Faveur, Wander+NW and Cabi. Tickets are $20 and must be purchased by Thursday, May 3: call 541-548-5416. Proceeds support parish ministries and nonprofits in the Sisters community.

Save your art for donation! This will be the second year for a Friends of the Sisters Library fundraiser, the Annual Pre-Owned Art Sale. Consider saving your treasures for this event. Deschutes Land Trust volunteer naturalists lead free walks and hikes in small groups, now through November 2. The required online registration for each outing opens one month before its date. Fundraising Plant Sale

Come support the Central Oregon Veterans Ranch and fill up your garden!
