To the Editor:
As many of us know, the Local Option is once again coming up on the ballot. For those who don't, the local option is a levy that helps fund our school district where the state funding runs short. As students at Sisters High School, we can see the impact the local option and the funding boost of $1.3 million has on our schools. We truly have an exceptional faculty district-wide. Personally, all of us are always so appreciative of how much effort our teachers put into students. Daniel O'Neill, one of our math teachers, stands out as an example of someone who truly puts all of his effort into students. Mr. O'Neill will take multiple hours after school and during lunchtime to help students thoroughly understand content and feel accomplished in their work. Mr. O'Neill is just one example of many truly extraordinary educators in sisters. If our Local Option is not passed, we could face budget cuts of up to 9% district-wide. We are so fortunate to have a school with the funding that allows us to have some of the most passionate and caring teachers and special programs around. Without the local option, we might not be as fortunate.
