The Sisters High School Outlaws traveled to Madras on Saturday, January 20, and participated in matches against Madras, Ridgeview, and Summit.

The Outlaws gave up three forfeits at the start of each match: in the 106-, 160-, and 182-pound weight classes. The Outlaws won 19 of the 33 matches at the invitational, and of those, nine of them were won by pins.

Sophomore Dalton Ford (126 pounds) and senior Cole Pade (145 pounds) had an incredible day, and won all three of their matches, two of them by a pin.

Sophomore Austin Pade and senior Dustin Smith won two out of three of their matches. Coach John Downs noted that both these matmen were much improved, especially shooting on their opponent.

In Sisters' first dual against Madras, the White Buffs came out on top in a final score of 45-30. Dalton Ford (132 pounds) and Austin Pade (145 pounds) won their matches by a fall. Jess Peskin (113 pounds) and Rylan Carter (126 pounds) both won by forfeit.

Sisters came out on top, 46-18, in their match-up against Ridgeview. Pade, David Perez-Sanchez (170 pounds), and Ethan Martin (195 pounds), all won their matches by a fall. Ford (126 pounds) won by a major decision, and Austin Pade (138 pounds) and Dustin Smith (160 pounds) won by decision. Jesse Peskin (113 pounds) and Casey Warburton (285 pounds) won by forfeit.

Sisters' final match against Summit was very close, and the Outlaws only lost by four, 40-36. Peskin, Chaz Patterson (120 pounds), Ford, Pade and Smith all won by a fall. Martin won by forfeit.

Four days earlier, the Outlaws traveled to Sutherlin for a dual meet against the Bulldogs. Pade and Smith both decided to go down to the next lighter weight, and it paid off for both of them. Cole and Dustin earned impressive wins over their opponents.

Warburton had an outstanding match against Andrew Smalley, who took third at state last year in the 285-pound weight class, and is expected to do the same or better again this year. Casey wrestled tough, and even had Smalley on his back for a few seconds. However, he ultimately lost the match in a 10-5 decision.

Downs said, "Last year when these two guys wrestled, Smalley crushed Casey quickly. I am amazed with Casey and how much he has improved this year. He is definitely one to watch heading into the end of the season."

Ethan Martin won his match by a fall.

Downs noted that Martin is on a quest to become one of only two Outlaws sophomores to qualify for state.

"He had a quick pin over Sutherlin's 195-pounder," he said.

The Outlaws will match up against Sweet Home in a dual meet on Thursday, January 25. On Saturday, they will travel to Dayton High School for the Dayton Invite.
