Two Sisters High School athletes have qualified for the state OHSET (Oregon High School Equestrian Team) meet. Rebecca Rubbert, a Sisters High School senior, qualified for state in two equestrian performance events: Western Trail and In Hand Trail. Rubbert has competed in OHSET since she was a freshman.

These events are highly technical and require precision. The athletes earned their state berth in district competition on April 15. Hailee Kennedy, SHS freshman, qualified for state in Pole Bending. Pole Bending is a timed event that features a horse and one mounted rider, running a weaving or serpentine path around six poles arranged in a line. The object is to run the pattern correctly as quickly as possible, without knocking down any of the poles.

"Rebecca and Hailee's hard work and preparation has [sic] paid off. They are both deserving of state qualification," said Coach Kerry Newell.

The Sisters OHSET team is part of the Central District and competed against 15 teams at three meets this year.

The state meet will be held at the Deschutes County Fairgrounds May 10-13.
