Event features premium art for serious art lovers
Dave and Carla Fox had a vision to create a showcase for premium fine art that would attract serious art patrons to the banks of the Deschutes River in Bend.

Nine years later, Art in the High Desert is one of the most highly rated art festivals in the nation.

Fair serves up old-fashioned fun
Every summer Sisters Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration hosts its traditional small-town country fair, a crowd favorite, and last weekend marked its 22nd year. Folks rolled in from all around the region for some good old-fashioned fun.

The smoky air didn't deter folks from lining up at the Sweet Tooth Booth waiting for a piece of Ann Reed's delicious marionberry cobbler.

Honky Tonk band to play Sisters
Old-style honky tonk band Halden Wofford and the Hi Beams are returning to play the Sisters Folk Festival Summer Concert Series. Wofford and the band have been playing music together for 14 years with all the same people touring, playing old-school country music. Wofford calls it "Rocky Mountain Honky Tonk Music."

Wofford started playing music in college on the side as a hobby.

The family-friend and dog-friendly Food Cart Garden at Eurosports welcomes Central Oregon favorites The Quons on Friday, August 4, performing their originals and covers with Linda's big vocals and Mark's guitar. Eurosports' music runs 5 to 7 p.m.

Western artist to hold show in Sisters
A living buckaroo legend - and accomplished artist - Len Babb will host a show in Sisters, August 5 and 6, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., at the Sisters Fire Hall Community Room. The show will feature Len's original oil paintings, watercolors, pen-and-ink drawings and sculptures.

Fair rolls into Deschutes County
It's high summer and that means it's time for the Deschutes County Fair.

From Wednesday, August 2 through Sunday, August 6, the Deschutes County Fairgrounds in Redmond will host music, talent shows, rodeo, carnival rides, dozens of vendor and 4H livestock showing in one of the premier county fairs in the state.

Hoedown draws record turnout
Hundreds of guests showed up for a record turnout for the 2nd annual Sisters Rotary Hoedown. Folks dressed their Western best for the family-friendly event to enjoy live country-western entertainment by Dry Canyon Stampede, great food, a silent auction, live auction, and a raffle draw on Saturday evening.

A vast indoor horse arena, located on Cloverdale Road, was donated for the evening by Julie and Vito Bartolotta.

'Dunkirk' is a magnificent recounting of World War II battle
"Dunkirk" is a magnificent telling of an extraordinary story.

It is a visceral, gut-wrenching depiction of the evacuation of British (and some French) forces from the English Channel port of Dunkirk in France in 1940 - a World War II defeat that should have been a catastrophe for the Allies. Thanks to the extraordinary courage of ordinary people, utter catastrophe was averted, and a defeat was turned into a kind of victory.
