TR and Jen McCrystal have announced that the restaurant they built first as Jen's Garden and more recently as The Cottonwood Café will be acquired by David Touvell, owner of Chow in Bend; Ryan Sturmer, executive chef of Brasada Ranch and local business person Stephen King.
"After many years building this iconic café in a quaint cottage, we are pleased to see it moving into the hands of a very talented trio," they said in a statement. "David has built one of the most successful and lasting breakfast/lunch restaurants in Bend and will bring his talents to Sisters."
Touvell said, "I moved to Sisters with my wife, Becca, and two children several years ago after falling in love with the town. We are very excited to enhance the Cottonwood tradition and to incorporate our own flair, and passion for organic, sustainable cooking. We hold a special affection for the people of Sisters and hope they will join us."
Going forward, Cottonwood will be open seven days a week and will reintroduce evening dining this summer both inside and in Jen's Garden.
Touvell earned his chops at Tack Room, French Laundry, Lodge at Pebble Beach and Club 19. He was sous chef at Couvron in Portland, which earned a coveted James Beard award. Sturmer was chef at Urban Farmer in Portland before moving to Brasada Ranch. King says you don't want to try his own cooking.
