Rick and Lois Lloyd of Sisters celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with their family at Brand 33 at Aspen Lakes on December 22, 2013. Richard Lloyd of Ross, California and Lois Wilson of Piedmont, California were married December 22, 1943 at Holy Names Cathedral in Chicago, Illinois. They met while attending the University of California Berkeley. When World War II broke out, Rick enlisted in the Navy. He received his degree from Berkeley and moved to Chicago, where Lois joined him so that they could be married upon his graduation from Naval Officer School. Rick shipped out as the Gunner Officer on the aircraft carrier USS Ticonderoga and Lois returned to Marin County, California to await his return. They have five children: Vickie, Sally, Sandy, Rick Jr. and Robin. Four of their five children were raised in Marin County, while their youngest daughter was raised in Sisters and Black Butte Ranch, where they were one of the first permanent residents when they moved to The Ranch in 1973. They have 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Though not still at Black Butte Ranch, they have continued to reside in the Sisters area for the past 40 years.
