The Sisters Ranger District is set to begin its annual prescribed burning program on 700 acres around Sisters.

These area are located in the Canal treatment area one mile southeast of Sisters near Squaw Creek canal. Another project area is Underline located south of Sisters High School. Within the Highway 20 project area there is an 80-acre unit across from the entrance to Black Butte Ranch.

Underburning reduces excess fuel in and around highways and communities like Sisters, Crossroads, Tollgate, Black Butte Ranch, Cascade Meadow Estates and the Highway 20 corridor.
