The girls' tennis team lost to North Marion at Black Butte Ranch on Wednesday, March 13, and then fell to Madras just two days later.

In Wednesday's match against North Marion, three of Sisters' doubles teams made their debut. None of the girls had ever played in a tennis match before. Coach Marty Dale told The Nugget that in the first set the girls were soundly defeated by scores of 0-6 or 1-6 but stepped it up in the second set with scores of 3-6 and 4-6.

Junior Tori Miller (No. 2 singles) split her match with Katie Kahle.

At Madras, the number one doubles team of Jill Zepeda and Sabrina VanBockryck defeated Samantha Blann and Amanda Goodson. The duo won their first set 7-6 (7-5) and their second set 6-3.

Dale said, "It was a very close first set and won at the net. Both girls were very consistent in their serving. That's what helped them take control in the second set."

Dale told The Nugget that although the rest of the team didn't win their matches the games were very close.

"The girls have shown tremendous improvement since their last match," said Dale. "We're still working on the basic fundamental skills of tennis, and the girls are learning very fast. We're gaining match experience and are improving our skills, learning the competitive aspects of the game and the strategies of the game."
