Sisters’ lacrosse team is a force to be reckoned with.

The lacrosse team notched a huge 14-6 victory in their come-from-behind win over the Bend Lava Bears on Thursday, April 5.

The Outlaws were down 3-4 at the half. Sisters exploded in the third quarter and scored seven unanswered goals.

Midfielder Norman Emberton was unstoppable. Emberton scored six goals in the game

"I think the second half was pretty much John (Liming)," Emberton said. "He won about eight or nine faceoffs, and I couldn't have scored the goals I did without him. His passes to me were just phenomenal."

Emberton said he felt Nick Pepperling was also instrumental in the win.

"He (Pepperling) had such a positive attitude at the start of the second half, and it brought our whole team up mentally. And, he had two goals that were just tremendous," said Emberton.

The Outlaws out-shot Bend 25-5 in the first half but just couldn't get the ball past the Lava Bear keeper.

"Our attack and midfield rode hard, and Bend had trouble clearing the ball all day, thus giving us way more opportunities," said Coach Bill Rexford.

Sisters' defense was just as spectacular as their offense.

"Mike Hernandez shut down their (Bend's) best attack man, and Trevor Summers was a ground ball fiend," said Rexford. "Mike Garcia continues to make his presence felt and gets better with every minute on the field. Chad Kernutt saw spot time as well and did a fine job. Emery Myer played defensive midfield and is adjusting to his new position nicely."

Rexford told The Nugget that Sisters' offense had much to overcome with the loss of attacker Nate Emberton. In the Outlaws' last game against Thurston Emberton tore his LCL and will be out the remainder of the season.

"Jeremy Evan had to move to attack, and he did a great job," said Rexford. "Ashton (Simms) had his best game to date. He's playing more disciplined lacrosse and is taking care of the ball. Marcus (Gaboni) is becoming game savvy as well and knows when to take it to the cage and when to pull the ball out."

Dominique Neiri, Shawn Mauer and Jacob Evan, the second midfield line, are also contributing to the Outlaws' success. They give the Outlaws different options which keep the opponents defenses unsettled.

"This was a great win for us," said Rexford. "Bend won the last meeting against us, and we're proud to be back on top for the time being. It's a great rivalry."

The victory was a huge boost for the team after their devastating 3-14 loss against Thurston two days earlier.
