The Outlaws suffered a 42-14 loss to a tough Pleasant Hill team on the wrestling mats at home on Thursday, February 12.

Sisters gave up fewer forfeits than usual because the Billies had no wrestlers in the first three weight classes.

Senior Thomas Schantz' match was the highlight of the evening. Schantz earned a 9-4 win over Tyler Spooner.

Thomas quickly earned a reversal, but Spooner escaped and took a 3-2 lead after the first period. Schantz scored an escape and takedown in round two to lead 5-3. In the third period Schantz was on top and quickly took Spooner to his back for four points and a near fall.

"Thomas is real solid," said Coach Jeff Smith. "He is in control all of the time and makes very few mistakes. He's a real hard worker and I'm pleased with his success."

Kody Johns (160 pounds) recorded a quick fall.

Johns earned a fall with a speedy takedown and then stacked Kris Warkins for a 35-second fall. Kody is wrestling well and should do well at Districts and the State Tournament, said Smith.

Dylan Mackenzie also recorded a victory due to a forfeit.

The Outlaws will travel to Junction City on February 20-21 for the Sky-Em District Championship.
