For the eighth year running, the ladies of St. Edward's Altar Society will be up at the crack of dawn to prepare breakfast during Quilt Week for those early birds who need to get to classes at Sisters High School. Breakfast will be served Monday-Friday of Quilt Week, July 4-8 from 6:30 to 9 a.m. at St. Edward the Martyr Catholic Church.

And it's not just for quilters. Many spouses are along for the week and need sustenance before they head out to enjoy the many other activities available in the Sisters Country. Visitors from all over the world come back each year to take advantage of these breakfasts, offering a relaxing, friendly atmosphere and "good vittles."

Locals are more than welcome also.

Each day features a different "special" - such as eggs Benedict, fruit and hash browns, or pancakes, sausages, scrambled eggs and fruit. The continental breakfast includes coffee, tea, juice and fruit, plus a choice of a bagel, muffin, English muffin or toast.

This is the main fundraiser for the altar society each year. There is also a raffle in conjunction with Quilt Week, offering items including a beautiful quilt made by Mary Richards, artworks, gift certificates and more. Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5. The drawing will take place on Sunday, July 17; winner need not be present. All proceeds are used to provide the supplies needed for the church, such as altar linens, communion bread and wine, vestments, candles, etc.

This year, St. Edward's is included on the Quilt Week Garden Tour on Thursday, July 7. Fr. James Radloff is an extraordinary gardener and has turned the backyard of the rectory into quite a showplace.

For more information about the breakfasts, contact Mary Richards at 541-549-2053 or Jan Ries at 541-549-2078. The church is located at 123 Trinity Way in

Sisters.
