• This past winter several businesses and agencies have worked hard to ensure pedestrians have had clear paths to reach their destinations. On June 23, these businesses and agencies will receive Safe Sidewalk Awards from the Deschutes County Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC).

The Safe Sidewalk Awards will be presented at the Deschutes County Board of Commissioners Business Meeting held on Monday, June 23 at 10 a.m. The meeting will be held in the Barnes and Sawyer Rooms (first floor) of the Deschutes County Services Center at 1300 NW Wall St. in Bend.

Bronco Billy's Ranch Grill and Saloon, Leavitt's, and Rancho Viejo will be recognized.

• Rio Restaurant will host a Cinco de Mayo Celebration Sunday, May 4, from noon to 7 p.m.; 20 percent of proceeds benefit the SPRD scholarship fund.
