• Harry Gent has passed all his tests for citizenship and awaits F.B.I. clearance before becoming a U.S. citizen.

“There are no skeletons in my closest,” said an enthusiastic Gent at his pre-citizenship party held last Sunday. “I can’t wait to become a citizen.”

Gent is an Englishman from Preston-Lancashire. He has lived here since 2000 with his wife, Mary Beth Pearl-Gent. She is an elected member of the Deschutes Public Library Board. Harry formerly worked at British Aerospace before retiring to the Sisters area.

• The Laughlin family of Sisters thanked the community and particularly the Sisters Middle School Sparrow Club for their support and kindness in assisting Skyler Laughlin, who suffers from Crohn’s Disease.

The middle school adopted Skyler as its “sparrow” and raised funds for his care through a talent show held just before school ended. Skyler is a fifth grader at Sisters Elementary School and elementary school students also participated in the talent show.

• Lindsey (Warner) Overstreet graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, cum laude, at Seattle Pacific University. She also received the Lowell Berry Memorial Scholarship, School of Psychology.
