Every golfer dreams of having a hole-in-one. For Sisters resident Barbara Carollo her dream came true after 22 years of patience and hope.

When Carollo was playing at Glaze Meadow Golf Course at Black Butte Ranch (BBR) on September 19, the golf gods smiled.

She was playing with her closest friends Lavoy Masters, also from Sisters, Gloria Elliot of Bend and Eunice Nichol who was visiting from British Columbia. Carollo was playing the eighth hole, a par 3, and hit her 6 iron just the perfect distance.

"I had a brand new pair of glasses on. I didn't see it go in, but Lavoy and Gloria saw it go in," Carollo said.

"She didn't believe me when I told her," Masters said. "She had to go up to the green and see for herself before she would believe it."

Disbelief seemed to run in the family. When asked about her husband's comment on her hole-in-one, Carollo said, "He just couldn't believe it."

Her husband has had a couple of holes-in-one himself, but it was still a surprise to him when his wife joined the exclusive club of one of golf's ultimate experiences.

Masters witnessed a hole-in-one on the same hole exactly two weeks earlier. Pixie Carson of BBR was the player that time, and it was also her first hole-in-one.

Masters laughed when asked about it, saying, "Do you want to play golf with me? I am the good luck charm.

"When Pixie made the hole-in-one, she didn't actually see it go in. But she, at least, believed me when I told her."

Carollo said that she and her friends went to the Lodge at BBR to celebrate over dinner. She had a pork chop with a glass of Chardonnay for her victory dinner, laughing as she said, "I might have ordered something different, if I knew this was going to be in the paper."
