Misty Carter of Maupin has been crowned Sisters Rodeo Queen for 2007. The 20-year-old freshman at Columbia Gorge Community College was selected Sunday, September 24 at the Sisters Rodeo Grounds in competition with other applicants before an audience of 40 family members, friends and rodeo association members.

She is the daughter of Harold and Nancy Carter of Maupin and a 2004 graduate of South Wasco County High School where she was student body vice president, class president and homecoming queen. During high school, she also competed in 4-H and rodeo events and played varsity basketball. Misty also served as a volunteer firefighter and is currently working with her brother starting a riding business.

Misty was the 2004 Queen of the Wasco County Fair and Rodeo and was crowned Queen of the 2005 PRCA Crooked River Roundup.

In her role as Sisters Rodeo Queen, Misty will reign over the 2007 Sisters PRCA Rodeo scheduled for June 8, 9 and 10. She will also represent the Sisters Rodeo Association at a dozen Pacific Northwest rodeos during the coming year and will appear at other local events. The new queen will receive a wardrobe, a Sisters Rodeo belt buckle, travel expenses and a $500 Sally Leavitt Queen's Scholarship for continued education.

During the queen competition, applicants were interviewed by three judges and made an oral presentation before the audience. A final part of the competition was a demonstration of their horseback riding skills.
