Sisters tied Burns for a third place finish in the gold bracket of play at the Sisters Annual Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, September 23.

Twenty-four top teams from around the state attended. Teams participated in pool play in the morning and in the afternoon split into either the gold, silver or bronze bracket of play.

Sisters competed in the gold bracket, along with Henley, Vale, Burns, Estacada, Stayton, LaGrande and Central.

In the quarterfinals Sisters defeated Stayton 25-18 and 27-25. Sisters advanced to the semifinals and lost in three games to LaGrande.

Henley won the gold championship bracket. The Hornets defeated LaGrande 25-20 and 25-17. Tillamook won over LaSalle in the silver championship game, and Junction City defeated Hidden Valley for the bronze.

Coach Chris Crosby noted the play of hitters Felicia Pledger and Kali Ulmer and backrow specialists Becky Bremer and Brook Goins.

"We made some great strides today. Our setters are doing a very good job getting the ball to our hitters and pressing the action for a faster tempo," said Crosby.

Approximately 600 people attended and Crosby thanked those who made the event possible (see "Sisters salutes," page 33).
