The Outlaws held the Stayton Eagles to just 13 points in Sisters' final non-league game of the season at Stayton on Friday, September 29. The Outlaws crushed the Eagles 55-13.

Sisters started out quickly and never looked back. Nate Jackson caught a 62-yard pass from Jarred Hasskamp to score on the first play of the game and give the Outlaws a 6-0 lead. Sisters got the ball back, and Cory McCaffrey ran 37 yards for the TD and pushed Sisters to a 12-0 advantage.

Within minutes McCaffrey ran 65 yards for another touchdown. Hasskamp passed to Jeff Sampson for the two-point conversion, and Sisters went up 20-0.

Sisters covered 63 yards in four plays on their next possession. McCaffrey ran it in from the five-yard line for the TD and then ran it in for the two-point conversion. The Outlaws held a commanding 28-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Stayton got on board when their receiver caught a tipped pass and ran 47 yards for the touchdown to close Sisters' lead to 28-6.

Early in the second quarter, Sisters went 52 yards in two plays. Jackson caught a 23-yard pass from Hasskamp, and McCaffrey rushed 26 yards for his fourth TD of the game. Josh Marr's kick for the extra point was good, and Sisters went up 35-6.

Before the half, the Outlaws went on a five-minute drive and covered 85 yards in 11 plays. McCaffrey ended the drive with a 24-yard TD run. The kick was good, and Sisters finished the half with a 42-6 lead.

Stayton had a good drive in the third quarter, but the Sisters' defense held them at the nine-yard line. The Outlaws took possession and went 91 yards in nine plays. On the drive, McCaffrey ran 23 yards and fumbled the ball. Sampson was there, picked it up and went the last two yards to score. The Outlaws extended their lead to 48-6.

McCaffrey capped Sisters' scoring with just a few minutes remaining in the third quarter. The Outlaw defense recovered a fumble on the nine-yard line, and McCaffrey scored on a nine-yard run. The extra point was good, and Sisters pushed to a 55-6 advantage.

At that point Coach Bob Macauley put in his sophomores, and they took over the game. Stayton scored once more before the horn sounded ending the game.

"The sophomores came in and did a great job," said Macauley. "They competed and played hard against Stayton's varsity team. It's the best they've looked all year."

Macauley praised sophomore linemen Kevin Wistrom, Tyler Miller and Thomas Ahrends for their great blocking. Macauley also noted the tough play of sophomore running back Nick Head and the great defensive play of Thomas Bennett and Lucas Weigman.

For the varsity, Jeff Sampson, Todd Bell, Dominic Neiri and Taylor Davenport led the tough Outlaw defense. Sampson and Bell each recorded nine tackles. Neiri and Sampson each had eight tackles. Hayden Mayea and Doug Emberton both had fumble recoveries.

McCaffrey was the offensive star of the night with 24 carries for 311 yards and five touchdowns.

Macauley noted the outstanding play of Trevor Summers, Arne Pierce (who got his first start as an Outlaw), Spencer Freeland, Tyson Edmunson, Evan Eady and Jake Kleint on the offensive line.

Macauley told The Nugget his team needs to get rested and ready for the upcoming games. The Outlaws missed Nick Pepperling who is still out due to a bicep injury.

The Outlaws have an important league game at La Pine on Friday, October 6 and then will host league rival, Marist, in a showdown on Thursday, October 12. Sisters is currently ranked third in the state.
