To the Editor:

Tom Lippert wrote a letter appearing in the May 31 issue of the Nugget, regarding taxes and schools.

His letter questions the motives, the strategies, the truth of The Nugget's reportage of potential and real school program and staff reductions resulting from inadequate school funding resources.

I hope Mr. Lippert didn't get blind-sided moving into a community that puts a high priority and value on the educational offerings it provides its young people.

It must be clear that quality of educational opportunity for the young people of our community has evolved into a high-standard given, that just is. I have lived in Sisters long enough to see it come through the kind of shadows evident in Mr. Lippert's letter. I believe Sisters has moved beyond that, now.

There is too much light here to have such shadows.

Sisters has become a collaborative community that will have a classroom raising with donated ingenuity, effort and resources when the normal means are not to be found.

Mr. Lippert must not have been here when that happened. I honestly hope he didn't unwittingly move into a community that was not the kind he wanted to be in.

The 60th Sisters Rodeo Parade is over, with ninety exciting entries, a cool Central Oregon morning and a very large attendance along out Parade Route. YAHOO!

To each of you that put together an entry, and arrived very early in the morning: Thank you so much, we hope you had a memorable day and are planning ahead for next year. You are the parade and make it successful.

To the volunteers that we lean so heavy on, your assistance is so greatly appreciated that without each and every one of you we couldn't have completed the job. Thanks, thanks, thanks.

Rodeo Courts come to our parade in large numbers. We are always happy to see them, as we know that they have traveled hundreds of miles just to bring to the parade the elegance and charm of the rodeo.

In a few months we shall begin preparing for the 61st Rodeo Parade, and look forward to seeing all of you again.
