A Las Vegas man was killed on Friday, January 26, when the van he was riding in left the roadway on Highway 20 between Sisters and Bend and rolled over.

According to Deschutes County Sheriff's Office reports, the van, carrying nine occupants, was headed eastbound on icy roads at 10:18 p.m. when the driver lost control.

The van rolled at least once and came to rest on its side. The other occupants had injuries ranging from minor to serious in nature and were transported to St. Charles Medical Center for treatment.

Florencio Zamora-Martinez, 36, of Las Vegas, Nevada, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies believe, based on the nature of the injuries, that the occupants of the van were not wearing seatbelts. An investigation is continuing; alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the accident.
