The Sisters boys varsity baseball team remained unbeaten in the second week of league action, prevailing in some tough games.

The Outlaws visited traditional powerhouse North Marion on Tuesday, April 9, and came away with an 8-4 victory. Evan Livsey pitched 6-1/3 innings for the win, and Seth Teague closed for the save.

Offensively, Teague and Matt Harp had three hits apiece, while Ryan Harper and Lucas Denzer each hit safely twice. Sisters took a 3-0 lead after four innings and appeared to blow the game open with a five-run fifth inning. The Huskies fought back and scored two runs in their half of the fifth and two more in the seventh to draw close.

"North Marion traditionally is one of the better teams in the league. It feels good to go to their place and get a win -- it's a real plus," Coach Ray Garrettson said.

"We played a great game for five innings, but we couldn't put them away. However, we kept the pressure on and scored enough to get the win.

"Our defense did a good job -- we had a couple of double plays that really helped out."

On Thursday the boys hosted Stayton and squeaked out a 3-2 win. Mike Greene threw a complete game, scattering seven hits and walking three batters in the process.

"Mike worked out of a lot of tough situations and showed some maturity out there," said Garrettson. "He did a nice job of making good pitches."

Pat Burke was the offensive spark for the Outlaws, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs. Ian McAlister and Nathan Powell had two hits each to account for the offense.

The Outlaws ended the week with a non-league trip to Madras on Friday, and beat the White Buffaloes, 9-6.

Tel White started and encountered some difficulty. The score was tied 5-5 after three innings. Ryan Harper then relieved and allowed only one run through the remaining four frames.

"Ryan hadn't pitched since the John Day tournament, and for him to come in and hold them until our bats could get going was a real lift for us," Garrettson said.

Sisters scored twice in the fourth and two more in the sixth to account for the final score. Pat Burke had a huge game, going 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, and four RBIs.

Mike Greene and Seth Teague each had two hits to contribute to the attack.

"We had 12 hits as a team. If we can get 10 hits in a game, with our team speed, we'll score some runs," Garrettson said. "We had a tough week at the plate. It was a good way to end the week."

Sisters is 15-1-1 overall, 4-0 in league. The Outlaws host Central, who is also undefeated in league and ranked fifth in the state, on Thursday in a key Capital Conference match-up.
