Applications are being accepted for the 2006 PRCA Sisters Rodeo Queen, according to John Leavitt, queen selection committee chair.

Applications will be accepted until September 23 with tryouts scheduled for Sunday, September 25 at 1 p.m. at the Sisters Rodeo Arena.

“We again have set our queen selection schedule well in advance of our June rodeo to allow our queen to appear at more events before the rodeo,” Leavitt explained.

Applicants must be 18 years to 23 years of age as of June 10, 2006, single, have not been married and must not have children. They must supply their own horse and demonstrate their riding abilities. Proof of insurance must accompany all applications. The queen must have time available for appearances at the 66th annual PRCA Sisters Rodeo in June and other events. She will also represent the Sisters Rodeo Association at other Oregon rodeos.

Three judges will select the queen based on personality, appearance, riding ability and the contestant’s horse. In addition to the riding demonstration, contestants will be asked to give a brief oral presentation and respond to questions from the judges.

The applicant selected will receive a wardrobe, a Sisters Rodeo belt buckle, travel expenses, and a $500 Sally Leavitt Queen’s Scholarship for continued education.

Complete information and application forms are available by contacting John Leavitt at 549-6451 or from Leavitt’s Western Wear, 100 E. Cascade Ave. in Sisters.
