Fans of Americana folk music and dance will get their toes to tapping at the Sisters Folk Festival’s newest venue, The Wild Dusty Song and Dance Tent.

The Wild Dusty Song and Dance Tent will be located at the corner of Main Avenue and Spruce Street and run throughout the festival.

The dance tent will be open to all Sisters Folk Festival All-Events Badge and ticket holders.

The venue will host the festival’s first-ever contra dance on Friday, September 9.

The Foghorn Stringband will start the show at 8 p.m., joined by a professional “caller.” The caller will lead the dance and teach anyone and everyone the ins and outs of Contra dancing, a folk dance style similar to square dancing.

Those who wish to attend only the contra dance on Friday may purchase a pass at the door for $5.

On Saturday, September 10, the tent will host a series of workshops and many of the festival’s singer-songwriters in a new intimate setting.

The tent will make way for the return of the dancers Saturday afternoon with an early set by The Subdudes followed by more danceable music on Saturday night with Stone Soup and The Haymakers.

The festival also features John Gorka, The Bills, Tracy Grammer, Ruthie Foster and more.
