Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show (SOQS) board member Myrna Dow presented a check in the amount of $12,610 to the Wendy's Wish Project/St. Charles Cancer Care Center of Bend.

The funds were raised at the 39th Annual Quilt Show in July.

"Everyone knows us for our inspiring quilts, but the mission of SOQS also is to enhance the economic and cultural vitality of the communities of Sisters and Central Oregon," said SOQS board president and founder, Jean Wells Keenan. "We are thrilled that our fundraising Wish Upon A Card partnership with Wendy's Wish/

St. Charles Cancer Center benefits so many individuals in Central Oregon."

In its eighth year, "Wish Upon A Card" is a special project created by the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show to benefit the Wendy's Wish Project/St. Charles Cancer Care Center. The SOQS Community Partnership project has raised more than $90,000 dollars for that cause. Wendy's Wish Project/St. Charles Cancer Care Center uses the funds raised to support patients and families of those undergoing cancer treatments with non-medical monetary support.

"We at High Desert Frameworks! believe that it is our responsibility to use our talents and resources to give back to our local community," said Myrna Dow. "The work of Wendy's Wish project is near and dear to our heart. It is a privilege to work with the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show and the quilting community to support such important work which benefits all of Central Oregon."

The Wendy's Wish project started in 2007 in honor of Wendy S. Huntley - wife, mother, teacher, and quilter - who made her home in Central Oregon. The heart of the project begins with people donating more than 500 handmade fabric postcards. Every year approximately 80 donated fabric postcards are selected to be framed by High Desert Frameworks!, and then displayed for silent auction during the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show. All donated postcards are sold during different events and have become collectable items.
