    A total of six boys and four girls took part in the Tod Surmon Mid-Valley Classic hosted by West Albany High School at the Linn County Fair and Expo site over last weekend. Sisters placed a very respectable sixth among the 18 schools with 72 points. Mountainside overwhelmed the competition with 200 points.     Going head-to-head with the Santiam Wolverines on January 17 gave the Outlaws' wrestling team a chance to flex their muscles, and show their moves on their home turf.     With the local scholarship season about to open for the class of 2024, the Sisters Graduate Resource Organization (GRO), which manages the program, has announced a new executive director, Regan Roberts, who started in mid-August. Roberts is taking over the duties left by the previous director Laura Kloss who served for the previous two years.     The Oregon Classic, held January 12-13, attracted more than 50 teams from all Oregon classifications as one of the largest gatherings of wrestlers annually in the state. The tournament is unique in that teams pair up with other squads for a series of head to head duals, and final team results are based on which team ultimately comes out on top in the classification.     As the wrestling team enters the core of its season, the squad is filling out the weight classifications, and individuals are gaining valuable experience. They put that experience on display at the King of the Hill Invitational hosted by Pleasant Hill High School January 5-6.     Sisters High School played host to the annual GFP Outlaw Invite on Saturday, December 16 with mixed results. The girls tied for eighth among 13 teams, while the boys took ninth among 14 teams. For the girls, the Outlaws picked up two third places, a fourth, and a fifth among the four who competed.     The Outlaws wrestling team traveled to Culver for a two-day tournament December 8-9 and showed continued improvement, according to Head Coach David Kemp. Five girls competed in the tournament for Sisters, including top finisher Brooklynn Cooper, who picked up a third place medal in the 122-128 pound division.     Matt Hilgers has taken over the role of athletic director for Sisters High School following Gary Thorson's tenure of five-and-a-half years. Hilgers moved to Sisters in 2021 after a number of years working at Taft Middle School and High School in Lincoln City.
