    Two years ago, with the change in city management, a concerted drive was begun to enhance our community. Much has been good. Landscaping and brush removal, more pathways and the new Fir Street splash park are wonderful improvements. They are proper city tasks. Cascade Avenue is a premier achievement.     On Friday, January 17, the Sisters City Council gathered for our annual goal-setting session. The council unanimously had set five overarching goals to provide direction and vision for this council. The adopted five goals are: 1. Strengthen city finances; 2.   • Water decision is not a solution

    Three weeks ago, the city council chose a short-term solution to a long-term problem. Water system improvements were delayed while no provision was made to build funds for their eventual payment. Water rates were left unchanged except for a .00013 increase per cubic foot consumed over 1,000 in any month. Many factors were debated in reaching this decision.   • Shaping Sisters' future

    Within the next four years Sisters Country will beautify Cascade Avenue, add miles of multiuse pathways and safe school routes, gain rights to USFS property, install roundabouts, enhance Barclay Drive, bring fish back to Whychus Creek, extend affordable housing, add dozens of jobs, upgrade our sewer system, be recognized as a music and art destination and have a balanced budget.
