    The Sisters girls rugby team brought home a win at the statewide Summer Rugby 7s Tournament. The girls team, which launched this season, was made up of Sisters High School students who had no previous experience playing rugby. The girls' perseverance to build both strengths and skills over the season showed when the team was able to make something out of nothing and triumph at the state level.   • Central Oregon students represent the U.S. in Taiwan

    This month local Sisters student Emily Ausman and another Central Oregon student, Donte Smith (who is from the Warm Springs Reservation), travelled to Taipai, Taiwan, to represent the United States at a conference for Caretakers of the Environment International (CEI). Students who attended the conference are participating in environmental community service projects in their home countries, which they presented at the conference.     The Sisters girls 7s rugby team based in Sisters is picking up heat in their first summer season.     After watching her boyfriend Keegan Bloff play rugby for about a year-and-a-half now, Sisters High School student Samantha Wavrin decided that she wanted a hand in the action. Since the only high school rugby team in Central Oregon was the Bend Blues (a boys team) she decided to make a few phone calls to Rugby Oregon, the statewide rugby association, to find out how to get a girls team started.   • Airport hosts Fourth of July celebration

    This Independence Day, Sisters Eagle Airport will host Wings & Wheels. The event is a two-part fly-in and classic car show. A fly-in is a gathering of pilots who will bring their vintage and fly-about aircraft to Sisters Eagle Airport. Pilots will literally fly into the event, which will give spectators an in-action display of various aircraft. AirLink is expected to fly in their PC Turbo Prop.     In the cozy, warmly lit space of "The Barn" on Friday, April 28, students of the Americana Project celebrated their newly released full-length album "Under the Sun." This is the 12th album recorded by students of the Americana Project since 2003. The Americana Project is the educational outreach program of the Sisters Folk Festival.
