The Outlaws had 12 players earn all-league honors this season, including seniors Kayl Mock, Hudson Beckwith, Landen Scott, Kolbi Cotner, Kale Gardner, and Dawson Roberson. Beckwith was named first-team running back, defensive back, and first-team returner. Senior Danny Benson earned second team all league and seniors Cooper Merrill, Andrew Islas, and juniors Nick Palmer and Joseph Derksen were honorable mention. Sisters made the long trek to Lincoln City on Friday, November 8, and took on the Taft Tigers. The Outlaws battled back from a big first half deficit to tie the game late in the fourth quarter, but were unable to keep the Tigers out of the endzone, and ultimately suffered a heart-wrenching 34-27 loss in the final minutes of the contest. The Outlaws had a difficult time at the start of the contest and were unable to stop the Taft passing attack, and quickly found themselves down 0-21 just two minutes into the second quarter.... The Lady Outlaws had five volleyball players selected to all-league teams, including Kathryn Scholl and Holly Davis, who were first-team, all-league picks. Scholl finished league with 11.9 kills (first on the team), 1.7 aces, 7.4 digs, and 1.2 blocks per match this season. The Lady Outlaws fought hard and played well against the No. 5 ranked Banks Braves, but fell 1-0 in round two of the 3A/2A/1A soccer state championships that were held Wednesday, November 6, at Hillsboro Stadium. The Braves did an outstanding job throughout the contest, made good give-and-go passes, and repeatedly took shots on goal. The Outlaws fell 2-0 at Siuslaw in a league playoff game on Tuesday, October 29, which brought their season to an end. Sisters fell earlier in the season to Siuslaw in a final score of 1-2 and felt good about their chances coming into this contest. Coach Jeff Husmann said, “We’ve had some heart-breaking close losses this year, and our plan for this game was to be focused and have fun. The Lady Outlaws volleyball team travelled to Horizon Christian (HC) in Tualatin on Wednesday, October 30, and beat the Hawks in three straight sets with scores of 25-18, 25-17, and 25-15, in round one of the state playoffs. They advanced to the second round where they fell in three straight sets to league foe Pleasant Hill (PH) on Saturday. In Friday night’s contest against Harrisburg on November 1, fans watched teams warm up in a torrential downpour that turned the field into a wet, muddy mess. At the start of the game, the rains stopped for the duration of the contest, but field conditions were still very slick and muddy. The Lady Outlaws wrapped up league play with an 8-0 win on the road at Elmira on Monday, October 28, and finished league with an 8-4 record and second-place finish. Ranked 12th in the state, they earned a first round bye. They will play Banks on Wednesday, November 6, in round two of the 3A/2A/1A Soccer State Championships. The Outlaws fell 1-0 at Pleasant Hill on October 23, in their final league game of the season. On Thursday they lost 0-2 at home against Gervais in a non-league game. Sisters struggled to get used to Pleasant Hill’s fast and bouncy artificial grass field. The Billies won the 50/50 balls and had possessed the ball the majority of the first half. Sisters earned a state playoff berth with a 25-29, 25-20, 25-14 win over Creswell on Saturday, October 26. The Outlaws finished league play tied with Creswell, and had to play against them to see who would advance to play No. 1-ranked Pleasant Hill (PH). With the win over the Bulldogs, the Outlaws secured a state playoff berth. The match against PH would decide who would be the No. 1 and No. 2 seed. The Lady Outlaws started their week with a 6-0 shutout at home over Santiam Christian on Wednesday, October 23, but suffered a 3-0 defeat at Central Linn two days later. The Outlaws didn't waste any time getting on the scoreboard in Wednesday's match-up against the Eagles. The Outlaws dominated play in their convincing 46-8 victory over the White Buffaloes at Madras on Friday, October 25. Sisters scored on their opening drive in just three quick plays which was capped off by a Kayl Mock 28-yard run off the right side. The Lady Outlaws competed at the Bend Clearwater Classic held on Saturday, October 19. Twenty-two teams were in attendance, the majority 5A and 6A schools. Sisters matched up against North Medford (NM) in an 8 a.m. match in their first game of pool play. The Outlaws came out a bit sluggish and NM ran some quick sets to take the lead. The Outlaws’ football squad honored their 11 seniors prior to Friday nights game against Pleasant Hill, and Coach Gary Thorson had praise for each one. Hudson Beckwith plays at running back and also at linebacker, and was an all-league running back last year as a junior. The boys soccer squad started their week with a 2-0 shutout at home against Elmira on Tuesday, October 15. Two days later they fell 4-0 at home against Central Linn. In Tuesday’s action, the Outlaws had trouble finding their rhythm in the first half, and the Falcons were motivated to get an upset. The Outlaws defeated the La Pine Hawks 6-1 at home on Wednesday, October 9, and came back two days later with a 4-0 shut out at Crosshill Christian. In Wednesday’s action the Outlaws faced a Hawk squad whose plan seemed to be to play physically at the risk of even fouling early and often. The Lady Outlaws beat the Harrisburg Eagles at home on Monday, October 7, in three straight sets with scores of 25-19, 25-11, and 26-24. Three days later they fell in five sets on the road at Creswell with scores of 22-25, 22-25, 25-19, 25-20, and 13-15. Sisters notched a big 7-0 shutout at home against the Siuslaw Vikings on Thursday, October 10. In Thursday’s matchup against the Vikings the Outlaws played most of the game on the Vikings half of the field. Sisters scored their first goal in the 19th minute of play when Mia Rosas won the ball in the middle of the field and found Ella Davis, who dribbled through four Vikings defenders and scored a goal on the ground into the lower right corner of the net. The Lady Outlaws soccer squad fell 3-0 to Central Linn at home on Monday, September 30, but bounced back on Thursday, October 3, and defeated Creswell 2-1 in another home contest. On Monday, with the Central Linn Cobras ahead by one, the Lady Outlaws were sure they’d scored a goal to knot it up in the 35th minute of play. The Outlaws fell 2-1 on the road at Siuslaw on Monday, September 30, and three days later suffered a tough 1-0 loss to the Eagles at Santiam Christian (SC).
