    The boys JV soccer squad improved tremendously over the course of the season and finished with a 3-3 record. The squad saw increased numbers and carried 20 players on their roster. That growth allowed the team to play their first full season of 11 vs. 11 in all of their games this year, something that hasn’t happened the last five years. Senior Dylan Rundle and sophomore Frank Trask were the team’s captains and were on the field nearly every minute of every game.   • Soccer squad falls in first round of playoffs

    The Outlaws took on a tough Delphian team on the turf at McMinnville High School on Saturday, October 28, and suffered a 2-1 loss. The turf field and nerves were a factor, as both teams took a bit of time to settle into the game. Delphian was a counter-attack type of team and had two very fast and dangerous strikers.     As the Outlaws boys soccer season came to an end, Coach Jeff Husmann honored his senior players, not only for their play but for building a strong program. Vincent Christian and Austin Dean were cocaptains this year and both players are four-year starters. Christian is one of the Outlaws’ most dedicated players.     The Lady Outlaws swept Vale at home in Sisters on Saturday, October 28, in the second round of the state playoffs, with scores of 25-14, 25-13, 25-13. Sisters entered the match as the No.1 team in the state, and the Vikings were ranked at No. 17. With the win the Outlaws advance to the final eight — the Big Dance — which will be held at Springfield High School on Friday and Saturday, November 3-4.     The girls JV volleyball squad had a tremendous season, wrapping up league play with a perfect 12-0 record, dropping only one set. In their final tournament against all 5A schools they defeated Bend High, Mountain View, Ridgeview, Crook County, and Redmond, with their only loss a close match against Caldera. Eight players made up the Lady Outlaws’ roster, including Ally Gibney, Audrey Sybesma, Addie Clayton, Paityn Cotner, Ava Stotts, Emma Long, Haven Heuberger, and Brooke Lindsay, and were coached by Jason Myhre.     The Outlaws wrapped up their perfect league season with a 20-7 win at home over Harrisburg on Friday night. Prior to the contest the Outlaws honored their eight senior players; Justin DeSmet and Tony Gonzalez (running backs), Tristen Madron (receiver), Rope Chew, Scott Henderson, Dolan Pool, Jayden Vogt, and Chance Hamlington (all linemen).     The Lady Outlaw soccer squad continued their dominance over league opponents this past week. They logged an 8-0 win at La Pine on Tuesday, October 17, and with the win clinched the league title.     The Outlaws defeated the Siuslaw Vikings 27-20 at home in Friday night's homecoming game, and with the win captured the league title. It was a big game for both teams.     The Lady Outlaws soccer squad logged an 8-0 shutout at home against Santiam Christian on Tuesday, October 10, and two days later they beat Elmira at home 8-1. Their defense has been stellar; they are the No. 1 defense in the state with only four goals scored against them.     The boys soccer squad squashed two more league opponents this past week. They shut out Elmira 5-0 on the road under very rainy conditions on Tuesday, October 10, and two days later posted a 8-3 win at Central Linn.     The Outlaws dominated play in their 48-8 victory over the Billies at Pleasant Hill (PH) in Friday night’s football game. Kolbi Cotner got the Outlaws on the scoreboard just two minutes into the contest. The play was set up by a long pass on the opening play from Hunter Bronson to Landon Scott, and then Cotner finished with a nine-yard run on a sweep for the score.     The Lady Outlaws volleyball squad traveled to Bend on Saturday, October 14, and competed in the Clearwater Classic. Twenty-four 4A, 5A, and mostly 6A teams were in attendance, with Sisters as the lone 3A team. Sisters started pool play against West Salem, and two back-to-back kills from Gracelyn Myhre gave the Lady Outlaws the 25-19 firstset win. In the second set Sisters started out down 0-5, but came back and posted a 25-21 win with big kills from Gracie Vohs and Kathryn Scholl down the stretch that secured the victory.... Full story

    The Lady Outlaws volleyball squad crushed Harrisburg on the road on Thursday, October 5. They swept the Eagles 25-12, 25-10, and 25-11 to push their league record to a perfect 8-0, and an overall record of 17-1. Harrisburg struggled to get into their offense due to tough serves by the Outlaws, who finished the night with a total of 10 team aces.     The Outlaws traveled to Creswell on Friday night and hammered out a decisive 41-6 victory against the Bulldogs. Creswell received the opening kickoff and Calvin Parker recovered an early fumble to set the Outlaws up for a great start. The Bulldogs’ defense held strong and Sisters wasn’t able to convert their fourth-down attempt deep in Creswell’s territory. Sisters forced the Bulldogs to punt and got back to work.     The Outlaws football squad soundly defeated the La Pine Hawks on the road this past Friday night. Despite the fact that the squad had a difficult week with numerous players out with injuries and sickness, they prevailed in a final score of 40-12. La Pine got on the scoreboard three minutes into the contest and took a quick 6-0 lead, but from that point on the Outlaws took control of the game.
