    The Lady Outlaws soccer squad started their week with a 1-1 tie at Pleasant Hill (PH) on Monday, October 3, and two days later shut out the Hawks at La Pine, 7-0. In Tuesday’s road game, the Billies came out with confidence and pressure, and immediately put the Outlaws on their heels. Sisters had a difficult time adjusting to the artificial turf, which was extremely fast, and their defense had to work hard the entire game.     The Lady Outlaws volleyball squad won the Silver Bracket at the annual Bend Clearwater Classic held on Saturday, October 8, where they faced some of the top 5A and 6A teams in the state. At home two days earlier, Sisters swept Harrisburg with scores of 25-12, 25-19, and 25-11. Pool play for the Clearwater Classic was held at Summit High School, and Sisters faced off against strong, talented teams from 6A West Linn, 6A South Salem, and 5A Redmond.     The Outlaws football squad defeated the Creswell Bulldogs 26-21 at home on Friday, October 14. It was a perfect night for football, and the stands were packed with fans. Sisters was short three starters on both sides of the ball, but players rose to the occasion, and worked together for an outstanding team win. Coach Clayton Hall told The Nugget that coaches had preached all week the “next man up mentality,” and told players it was going to be an all-hands-on-deck type of game.     The boys soccer squad had another big week, which included a 2-0 shut on the road against Pleasant Hill on Monday, October 3, and, two days later, a 5-0 win on the road against Crosshill Christian. Tuesday’s match-up was a critical one, as both Sisters and Pleasant Hill entered the contest undefeated in league play.     The Outlaws football squad had a bye last week, but they didn’t lay back. The team scheduled a contest against 5A Thurston JV. Sisters defeated the Colts 48-20 on Saturday, October 1, on a beautiful sunny afternoon. The Outlaws hit the field ready to play, and quickly marched down the field.     The Lady Outlaws soccer squad posted a 5-0 shutout at home against Creswell on Wednesday, September 28 — their sixth shutout in conference play this year. Two days earlier they finished in a 1-1 tie at home against Central Linn (CL), the No. 2 team in the state.     The Lady Outlaws volleyball squad posted two more wins last week, with sweeps at home over La Pine and Elmira. On Monday, September 26, the Outlaws posted scores of 25-14, 25-4, 25-7 against the Hawks and two days later took down the Falcons with scores of 25-12, 25-13, and 25-7.     The Outlaws boys soccer squad proved they are one of the stronger teams in the league with two more wins this past week: a 4-0 shut-out at Creswell on Monday, September 26, and two days later a 3-0 shutout at home against East Linn.     The Outlaws football squad lost 26-14 to LaPine at home on Thursday, September 22. The game was moved from Friday to Thursday night due to a shortage of officials, but the change didn’t affect the Outlaws fan base or community support, and a large student section cheered on their team in their first home game of the season.     Sisters volleyball squad traveled to Creswell on Monday, September 19 and logged a four-set victory, which put them at the top of the pack in conference play.     Josie Patton and her defense continued their dominance in league play as they logged two more shutouts and remain undefeated in league.     Sisters volleyball hosted the annual Sisters Invitational, which consisted of 18 top 3A and 4A teams from across the state. The Lady Outlaws flew through pool play undefeated against 4A Tillamook, LaGrande, and Cottage Grove, which made them the No. 1 seed for afternoon bracket play. Sisters was matched up against Burns, the No. 2-ranked team in 3A, to kick off bracket play.     Sisters’ football team made the long trek to Elmira on Friday, September 16, and walked away with a 21-7 victory. It was a perfect night for football, with the temperature at 60 degrees at kickoff, and teams playing in front of a packed crowd. The Outlaws defense shut down Elmira early, and Sisters’ offense found their groove in their run game.     The Lady Outlaws volley ball team took top honors at the Cascade Invitational held on Saturday, September 10. They played extremely well in the morning pool play and went undefeated against upper classification teams, which included Cleveland (6A), Stayton (4A), and Astoria (4A), and entered bracket play as the No. 1 seed.     The Lady Outlaws soccer team returns 10 experienced and skilled players this year, and will add four players who will lend athleticism and depth to the squad. Senior Josie Patton is back for her final year. She is one of the team’s captains and will again play in the goal. Patton has improved her play every year and with her height (close to six feet tall), strong hands, confidence, and leadership, she will be an enormous asset to the team.     It was an evenly matched battle between the Outlaws and the White Buffaloes at Madras on Friday, September 9 — but a few too many mistakes and missed opportunities cost the Outlaws the game.     The Outlaws shut out the Hilanders 23-0 at Burns on Friday, September 2, in their season opener. It was a hot bus ride over to Burns, and 91 degrees at kickoff, but none of that derailed the Outlaws’ focus. Sisters started their scoring in the second quarter.
