The Lady Outlaws beat the LaPine Hawks in four sets at home on senior night on Tuesday, October 15, with scores of 25-15 23-25, 25-14, and 25-12. Prior to Tuesday’s contest the Lady Outlaws honored their six senior players, Jordyn Monaghan, Holly Davis, Sophie Rush, Brooklyn Cooper, Kisten Elbek, and Kathryn Scholl. The Lady Outlaws competed at the Bend Clearwater Classic held on Saturday, October 19. Twenty-two teams were in attendance, the majority 5A and 6A schools. Sisters matched up against North Medford (NM) in an 8 a.m. match in their first game of pool play. The Outlaws came out a bit sluggish and NM ran some quick sets to take the lead. The Outlaws’ football squad honored their 11 seniors prior to Friday nights game against Pleasant Hill, and Coach Gary Thorson had praise for each one. Hudson Beckwith plays at running back and also at linebacker, and was an all-league running back last year as a junior. The Outlaws defeated the La Pine Hawks 6-1 at home on Wednesday, October 9, and came back two days later with a 4-0 shut out at Crosshill Christian. In Wednesday’s action the Outlaws faced a Hawk squad whose plan seemed to be to play physically at the risk of even fouling early and often. The Lady Outlaws beat the Harrisburg Eagles at home on Monday, October 7, in three straight sets with scores of 25-19, 25-11, and 26-24. Three days later they fell in five sets on the road at Creswell with scores of 22-25, 22-25, 25-19, 25-20, and 13-15. In Monday’s home match against Harrisburg the first set was tied up six times, the last at 17-17. Sisters notched a big 7-0 shutout at home against the Siuslaw Vikings on Thursday, October 10. In Thursday’s matchup against the Vikings the Outlaws played most of the game on the Vikings half of the field. Sisters scored their first goal in the 19th minute of play when Mia Rosas won the ball in the middle of the field and found Ella Davis, who dribbled through four Vikings defenders and scored a goal on the ground into the lower right corner of the net. The Outlaws football team bounced back well from their loss last week at Cottage Grove in their Homecoming game against Creswell, notching a commanding 48-6 win on Friday, October 11. Sisters jumped right out and scored on the first possession of the contest. Kayl Mock had a 30-plus-yard run midway through the drive and Kolbi Cotner scored on a seven-yard carry for the touchdown. The Lady Outlaws defeated Elmira at home in three straight sets with scores of 25-16, 25-6, and 25-21, on Tuesday, October 1. At home two days later they lost in four sets to top ranked Pleasant Hill (PH) with scores of 25-17, 26-28, 12-25, 15-25. The Outlaws suffered a disappointing 28-19 loss at Cottage Grove (CG) on Thursday, October 3. The contest started off great with Dawson Roberson getting an interception in the end zone which ended CG’s opening drive. Sisters took possession on the Lions’ 20-yard line. Hunter Bronson hit Hudson Beckwith on a nice pass for a 79-yard touchdown (TD) run. The Lady Outlaws soccer squad fell 3-0 to Central Linn at home on Monday, September 30, but bounced back on Thursday, October 3, and defeated Creswell 2-1 in another home contest. On Monday, with the Central Linn Cobras ahead by one, the Lady Outlaws were sure they’d scored a goal to knot it up in the 35th minute of play. The Outlaws fell 2-1 on the road at Siuslaw on Monday, September 30, and three days later suffered a tough 1-0 loss to the Eagles at Santiam Christian (SC). Despite the loss to Siuslaw on Monday the Outlaws proved they are able to compete with the best teams in the league, and that bodes well as the Outlaws finish up the second half of the season. The Outlaws notched a big 49-7 win in their league opener on the road at Elmira on Friday, September 20. Sisters opened with a massive 17 play drive to start the contest. The drive took almost 10 minutes off the first quarter and was capped by a Kale Mock three yard run off the right side. The Lady Outlaws Soccer Team posted a 6-1 victory at home against the Elmira Falcons on Tuesday, September 24. Ella Davis got the Outlaws’ scoring spree started 23 minutes into the contest. Mia Rosas sent a through ball from the Outlaws past the Falcon defense and found Davis, who finished it right past the keeper for the score. The Outlaws’ team started off the week on Tuesday with a three-game sweep over the visiting Creswell Bulldogs (No. 10), with scores of 27-25, 25-23, and 25-22. Two days later they defeated the La Pine Hawks in three close sets (25-22, 25-20, 25-20). Tuesday’s match against Creswell wasn’t easy. The Sisters Outlaws football team beat the La Pine Hawks 42-0 on Friday, September 27. Prior to the contest Friday night the Outlaws honored local veterans on their annual Veterans/Military appreciation night. Veterans were escorted to center field by the La Pine ROTC honor guard. After the National Anthem both teams lined up and filed into center field to shake the veterans’ hands and thank them for their service. The Outlaws boys soccer team fell 4-0 at Creswell on Monday, September 23, but came back three days later and beat East Linn Christian 3-1. Sisters knew the Creswell Bulldogs would be motivated to beat them, as they were the team the Outlaws played for the league championship last year in a come-from-behind 5-4 win. The Outlaws got off to a sluggish start after their long bus ride to Corbett last week. The Cardinals took advantage and jumped to an early lead, scoring three times within the first seven minutes of the contest. Coach Jeff Husmann said, “Our back line, and the whole team, was flat-footed and groggy. The Lady Outlaws soccer squad defeated Siuslaw Monday, September 16, on the road in a final score of 2-0. Devon Stevens got the Outlaws on the scoreboard in the 32nd minute of the game. A throw-in found Melia Jenkins in the middle of the field, and Jenkins passed the ball over to Stevens, who had made a run down the wing, and one-touched it for a goal over the keeper’s head into the back of the net. The Lady Outlaws started their week with a tough four-set road loss to top ranked Pleasant Hill (PH) on Monday, September 16, with scores of 16-25, 25-23, 15-25, and 12-25. They played well as a cohesive unit, and the early control of the midfield and the involvement from the defense led to the Outlaws first goal. The Lady Outlaws soccer squad fell 3-1 at Creswell on Monday, September 9, but at home two days later they edged out Pleasant Hill 1-0. On Monday, Creswell scored off a corner kick in the first half of Monday’s match-up and the Outlaws entered the half down 0-1. Just two minutes into the second half Tallis Grummer won the ball in the midfield and played the ball to Zoee Bafford. The Lady Outlaws hosted 25 teams in their annual Sisters Tournament. Twenty-four teams were from Oregon and Melba High School joined the fray from Idaho. Valley Catholic defeated Crook County in the championship match, and Cascade and Melba tied for third place. The Outlaws outscored the visiting Taft Tigers 41-22 at home at Reed Stadium in their first home game of the season. Sisters dominated the first half, scoring 28 points on 279 yards of total offense with a balanced attack of 145 yards rushing and 134 yards passing, compared to Taft’s six points on 149 yards total offense.
