    The Lady Outlaws opened their season with a 1-8 loss at home against Ridgeview on Monday, March 14. Later in the week they had back-to-back matches; a 3-5 loss at home against Caldera on Wednesday, and a 6-2 road win at Crook County on Thursday.   • Outlaws lacrosse kicks off season with a win

    The Outlaws boys team opened their lacrosse season with a 8-5 victory at Ridgeview on Tuesday, March 15. On Thursday they suffered a 5-11 loss at Marist and on Saturday fell 6-7 at home to Glencoe. In Tuesday’s action, Gaven Henry stole the show with two goals in the first half to put the Outlaws on top 2-0. Henry scored again in the third period, along with Mason Sellers, but the Ravens responded with four goals to knot it up 4-4 to close out the quarter.     Bruce Fenn was recently hired as Sisters High School’s new head coach for girls tennis. He’s passionate about the sport and has devoted his life to playing, coaching, and teaching tennis. He’s a certified tennis teaching professional with the USPTA (United States Professional Teaching Association).     The girls tennis team returns nine varsity players, and will add eight new players to their roster this year. The squad boasts several very athletic, enthusiastic girls who have a desire to improve, and along with the new additions the team is poised for a great season ahead.     The Lady Outlaws basketball squad had two players, Payden Petterson and Haleigh Froehlich, earn Honorable Mention All-Conference awards. The Oregon West Conference is tough and talented, and although the Outlaws didn’t have the best season, both Petterson and Froehlich did get noticed, and were respected by the other coaches in the league. Petterson, a senior and team captain, averaged eight points and 4.5 rebounds per game as a shooting guard for the Outlaws this year.   • Outlaws compete at championships

    Skiers Bela Chladek and Corbin Fredland, along with other elite skiers from Oregon, traveled to Mt. Rose, Nevada, with the Oregon Interscholastic Ski Racing Association (OISRA), where they represented the state of Oregon at the Western U.S. High School Championships.     Sydney Myhre started playing volleyball when she was in second grade. She is still in love with the sport, and working hard at becoming an even better player. Kids can’t technically start playing volleyball until third grade, but Myhre got a head start, playing with her older sister Addy on her third-grade team, coached by her parents, Jason and Rachelle Myhre.     Outlaws skier Bela Chladek is the state champion slalom skier. Chladek’s outstanding performance in the High School State Championship Alpine Ski Race at Mt.   • Outlaws will have small team on tennis courts

    The boys tennis squad currently has four players, and all are fairly inexperienced. The team will welcome any new players who would like to join and learn the game. There will be no cuts, and everyone is guaranteed to earn a varsity letter. Senior Barry Jaxon and juniors Matthew Riehle and Zenus Ortega return as third-year players, but their tennis experience has been limited due to COVID.   • Skiers race at Mount Ashland

    Seventeen Outlaws skiers traveled to Ashland on Friday and Saturday, February 18-19, for a two-day ski race between the Southern League and the Emerald League. This was the last race of the season for many of the Outlaws’ racers, and the skiers who will participate at State were able to race against some new competitors.     The Outlaws basketball squad traveled five long hours to Baker on Saturday, February 26, and faced the Bulldogs in a play-in game that ended in a 61-38 loss for the Outlaws. The loss brought the Outlaws’ season to a close. No. 7-ranked Baker plays an aggressive, pressure-packed type of defense that the Outlaws knew would be difficult to figure out.     The Lady Outlaws traveled to Corbett on Saturday, February 26, for the first round of the OSAA state basketball playoffs. Sisters, seeded 22nd, was pitted against Corbett, the 11th seed. The Cardinals entered the game with a 19-3 record, with two losses to No. 7- ranked Madras by three and four points respectively and one loss to No. 5-ranked Gladstone.     The Lady Outlaws had a hard time on the hardwood last week, playing both their games against top-ranked teams in the state. They were beaten 52-25 at Philomath on Tuesday, February 15, and at home three days later they lost 43-27 to Cascade.     The Outlaws boys basketball squad lost both their games this past week against the top two teams in the state. The Outlaws boys fell 50-32 at Philomath on Tuesday, February 15, and three days later were beaten with a score of 55-38 at home against Cascade.     The boys and girls ski teams continue to dominate the slopes. On Wednesday, February 9, at Hoodoo Ski Area, the boys and the girls both took first place in the final slalom event of the Emerald League season under clear skies and warm conditions.     The Lady Outlaws snapped their five-game losing streak with a 48-44 win on the road at Newport on Friday, February 11. In Friday’s matchup against Newport, both teams started off slow on the offensive end of the court. Payden Petterson hit a shot from behind the arc and Josie Patton scored a bucket, for Sisters’ only points in the first quarter.     The Outlaws have had a hard time on the road, but this past week, the hoopsters posted a big 50-25 victory at Sweet Home against the Huskies. The game on Tuesday, February 8, didn’t start well for the Outlaws as Sweet Home jumped out and took a quick 8-0 lead.     The Lady Outlaws hoopsters fell 48-35 on the road at Stayton on Thursday, February 4. The Eagles are a good team and entered the contest with an 11-4 record. In the Outlaws’ last matchup against Stayton they fell 24-45, so they did perform better this time around. Davis, who has played volleyball since she was in elementary school, has earned a full athletic scholarship to play volleyball for the Sacramento State Hornets.
