    Paul Patton, longtime resident and teacher in the Sisters School District, will take over as the new head girls basketball coach. Patton has been the assistant coach the past two years, under two different head coaches, and when the position opened he decided to apply. Patton was notified this past summer he’d gotten the job.     The Lady Outlaws played on the road at Marist, a private school that draws club players from all over the area, in the first round of the State playoffs, on Tuesday, November 3.   • Outlaws boys fall in first round of State soccer playoffs

    Sisters faced No. 6 seed North Marion in the first round of the 4A State playoffs on Wednesday, November 3. Due to excessive rain the game was held on the turf at Canby High School. The Outlaws worked extremely hard all season to achieve the goal of making it to post-season play, and the seniors led the way and provided the leadership needed to make it happen.     Sisters Lady Outlaws battled five grueling sets and came out on top against Philomath on Friday, November 5, earning a berth in the finals at the State tournament at Corvallis High School. Another five grueling sets followed on Saturday in the championship game against Cascade. This time, the Outlaws fell short and had to settle for silver.     The Lady Outlaws stomped the Marist Spartans in a 3-0 sweep at home on Saturday, October 30, in the first round of the State playoffs. With the win the Outlaws advance to the second round and were to host Siuslaw on Tuesday, November 2. The winner of that match plays in the semifinals at 6:30 p.m. at Corvallis High School on Friday, November 5.     The Outlaws wrapped up their regular season with a 1-1 tie on the road at Cascade on Tuesday, October 26. In Sisters’ first match-up against the Cougars at home earlier in the season, the Outlaws trounced the Cougars 9-1. This time around it was a whole different game.     The Outlaws fell 48-14 to the Hawks at La Pine on Friday, October 29, in their final league game of the season. The much bigger Hawk squad, with huge offensive and defensive lines, were more than the Outlaws could handle. Sisters had to punt on their first possession and the Hawks got the ball, marched down the field, and scored to go up 7-0.     The Lady Outlaws were seeded No. 1 as they entered the State play-in game at home against Elmira on Friday, October 29. Sisters put on a show the entire game and blanked the Falcons 8-0.     The boys soccer squad hosted Gladstone in a Division 4 play-in game on Saturday, October 30, and walked off the field with a 1-0 win. It was the first time in four years the Outlaws made it to postseason play.     The Lady Outlaws swept their way to the top spot in the 4A Oregon West Conference. They defeated Cascade in three straight sets on Tuesday, October 19, and two days later on senior night they posted a 3-0 win over Woodburn. The wins gave them co-champion status with Cascade.     The Outlaws honored seniors Sean Alvarez, Gavin Christian, Ricky Huffman, Noah Pittman, AJ Scholl, and Josh Schiller prior to their game against Philomath on Thursday, October 21.     The Outlaws soccer squad earned a 2-1 win at Newport on Tuesday, October 19. The Outlaws traveled to Newport for a rematch with the Cubs. Earlier in the season, at home, the Outlaws walked off the field in a disappointing 1-1 tie. This time around they were determined to post a win.     The Lady Outlaws soccer squad had another exceptional week, posting wins over two league foes: a 1-0 win at Stayton on Tuesday, October 12, and two days later a 2-0 victory on the road at Sweet Home. In Tuesday’s action, Sisters had a hard time the first half of play against the Eagles, and were very rushed in their play.     The Outlaws were firing on all cylinders in their 8-0 shutout at home over Sweet Home on Thursday, October 14. The win was a big confidence boost after their 0-5 loss at Stayton two days earlier.     The Outlaws football team fell 22-50 at Junction City on Friday, October 15, in a hard-fought contest. The Sisters squad lost just two weeks ago to the Tigers, and knew they’d be in for a battle against a very big and physical Tiger squad ranked fifth in the state. Junction City boasts very strong, physical players, and outweigh the Outlaws by 50 pounds or more at every position on both the offensive and defensive lines.     The girls soccer squad traveled to Woodburn on Tuesday, October 5, and came away with a score deadlocked 0-0. To date, the Lady Outlaws are 3-1-2 in league and 4-2-2 overall. Sisters played well against the talented and well-coached Bulldogs. The Lady Outlaws defense played a physical and well-organized game and kept Woodburn from scoring.     The Lady Outlaws volleyball team won their division and finished ninth out of 24 teams in the Bend Clearwater Classic on Saturday, October 9.     The Lady Outlaws volleyball squad tallied a 3-0 sweep over the Bulldogs at Woodburn on Tuesday, September 30. The 25-19, 25-8, 25-18 win pushed them to a 7-1 record in league and 11-2 overall.
