    The Outlaws soccer squad won on the road at Sweet Home (SH) on Tuesday, September 21. Two days later, they finished with a tie at Newport. In Tuesday’s action a balanced team effort on the turf at Sweet Home resulted in the Outlaws’ 5-1 win. Last year against SH, Sisters entered the game overconfident and the Huskies took advantage of their lackluster play.   • Eagles put talons into Outlaws on gridiron

    The Santiam Eagles dominated the Outlaws on Friday, September 24, and shut them out in a final score of 42-0. Santiam Christian put up 21 points in the first quarter to take a big lead. Neither team scored in the second period and at the half the Outlaws trailed 0-21. The Eagles scored 14 in the third and an additional seven in the final quarter.     The Lady Outlaws earned championship honors at the annual Sisters Invitational Tournament held on Saturday, September 18. Sisters hosted the 16-team tournament, which included eight of the top-10 ranked teams in the state at the 4A level. Sisters didn’t drop a set the entire tournament. They finished pool play 6-0 with wins over Madras, Siuslaw, and Cottage Grove, and were ranked first for the afternoon bracket.     The Outlaws shut out La?Pine 7-0 on Monday, September 13, but on Thursday their 3-0 winning streak came to an end with a 0-5 road loss at Stayton.     Sisters was clobbered by the Vikings at the new Caldera High School on Friday, September 17, and in the end suffered a devastating 0-50 loss. Caldera, the No. 2 ranked team in the state, was just too much for the young Sisters team to handle. At the close of the first quarter the Outlaws trailed 0-22 and by the half they were down 0-43.     Sisters was scheduled to host the White Buffaloes on Tuesday, September 7, but due to the poor air quality the game was moved to Madras. The Outlaws faced a well-coached and aggressive squad, but prevailed with a 2-1 victory. Temperatures were in the high 80s and fatigue was definitely a factor for the Outlaws as they do not use a lot of subs.     The girls soccer team crushed Madras 8-1 in their last non-conference game of the season on Wednesday, September 8. After their 4-0 loss in their opening game to a young, talented Caldera squad the previous week, the Lady Outlaws made adjustments and some new formations and found success against Madras.     The Lady Outlaws started their week with a win over Ridgeview, and at home two days later swept Stayton 3-0. On Saturday, they tied for third out of 12 teams at the South Eugene Tournament. At home on Tuesday, the Outlaws jumped out 13-4 in their first set against Ridgeview. Sisters came out with momentum behind the attacks of Greta Davis at the net and her five-point serving run.     After cancellations due to smoky conditions, the Outlaws finally saw their first action of the season. The contest at Madras on Friday, September 10, was a 7-16 loss for Sisters.     The Lady Outlaws volleyball squad walked off their home court Saturday, September 4, with a sweep over the Crook County (CC) Cowgirls, and notched their first win of the season. Sisters had the jitters in the first set and it took them a bit to settle in and play in front of the home crowd.     Clayton Hall has played sports his whole life and has always loved athletics. He is thrilled to be Sisters High School’s (SHS) new head football coach, and will bring enthusiasm and a whole new look to the program.     The Outlaws finished out the season with a bang with back-to-back wins against Bend and La Pine on Monday and Tuesday, June 21-22. Sisters earned a solid 58-44 win against Bend on Monday.     The girls basketball squad had a rough week with losses in all three of their games. Sisters lost at home 44-30 to Cascade on Tuesday, June 15, and a day later fell 39-35 at home against Woodburn. At home on Friday they lost 28-37 to second-place Stayton.     Sisters boys basketball lost all three of their games last week: a 68-41 loss at Cascade on Tuesday, June 15, and a day later a 70-58 loss at Woodburn.     In addition to honors presented to baseball standout Garret Vohs, seven other Outlaws players were selected to all-league teams. Senior Adam Harper and sophomore Patrick Silva were second-team picks, and seniors Dillon Tucker, Connor Linn, Will Grace, and sophomores Easton Moore and Brody Duey earned honorable mention.     The Lady Outlaws were defeated 56-33 at Woodburn on Tuesday, June 1. Their game at Stayton against the Eagles was cancelled as the Outlaws did not have enough players to make the trip. It was a tough first half for the Outlaws on Tuesday as they were outscored 31-16 in the first half. They did a much better job in the second half but the first-half deficit was too much to overcome.
