    The boys lacrosse squad lost both their games this past week — both to schools much larger than Sisters. The Outlaws were defeated 18-1 at Mountain View (6A) on Wednesday, April 21, and two days later they lost 10-4 on the road at West Albany (5A). Tuesday’s game against Mountain View was a rough one, and at halftime the Outlaws trailed by 10 at 1-11. Adam Maddox-Castle had Sisters’ only goal, which came in the second quarter.     The Lady Outlaws posted two wins this past week; a 5-3 victory over the Lady Buffs at Madras on Tuesday, April 20, and a 5-3 win at North Marion three days later. Sisters won three singles and two doubles matches on Tuesday against Madras. Juhree Kizziar did a tremendous job at No.1 singles. She dominated play on the court and blanked her opponent 6-0, 6-0.     The Outlaws defeated North Marion 3-2 at home in Sisters on Friday, April 23, for their first win of the season. Sisters came out on top in three close singles matches. Dexter Payne (No. 2 singles) and Jaxon Barry (No. 3 singles) both won in long, grueling, three-set matches. Payne beat Alex Farren 6-0, 4-6, 6-4.     The Outlaws were defeated 8-4 in their match-up against the Cubs at Newport on Monday, April 19. Sisters scored four runs on eight hits, and they had two errors in the contest. Garrett Vohs’ go-ahead two-run homer in the top of the seventh was the big highlight for the Outlaws.     The Outlaws came out firing on all cylinders in their first game of the season, and shut out Newport 11-0 at home on Thursday, April 15. A day later they traveled to Philomath and fell short 15-11, and 5-2, in the double header. Sisters had 14 hits in their game against Newport and several players contributed big bats in the winning effort.     The Lady Outlaws kicked off their season with a 5-3 win at home over Estacada. Two days later they fell 1-7 at Cascade, and on Friday at home against Molalla they lost 1-7. In Tuesday’s match against Estacada, Sisters got wins at all four singles spots, the fourth by default. They also earned a win at No. 2 doubles.     The Outlaws girls tennis squad is expected to be very successful in league tennis competition. Sisters returns several talented, experienced players this year, and there are several strong new additions. The season has been cut down to six short weeks, with an average of three matches each week. At the conclusion of volleyball, seniors Sophia Silva and Ellie Rush will move right into tennis.     The Outlaws baseball team will boast an older lineup, with talent all around the field. The new players to the squad will contribute depth and see time on the field.     The Outlaws tennis players traveled to Estacada on Tuesday, April 13, and a day later hosted the Cascade Cougars. On Friday, they wrapped up their week with a match at Molalla. The Outlaws only have six players, so the younger ones are getting a lot of time on the court. Nate Weber easily won his singles match against Avery Dryden, 6-2, 6-0, in Tuesday’s match at Estacada. Dryden is newer to tennis and couldn’t handle Webers’ pace and shot-making. Nate lost two games in the first set due to just settling back into the game.... Full story

    In Wednesday’s match-up, Ridgeview got on the scoreboard first, but the Outlaws responded and scored the next two goals, one by Riley Sellers and the other from Eli Johnson.     Friday’s victory on the road over Philomath closed the football season for the the Outlaws. It was the last game for the seniors, several of whom shared comments with The Nugget about team, family, and the hard work that allows them to play every Friday night.     The Outlaws football squad posted a 21-15 non-league victory on the road at Philomath on Friday, April 9, in their final game of the season. Quarterback Griffin Gardner started the first quarter with a touchdown behind his offensive line, which gave him time to drop back, make his reads, and deliver the ball.     The Lady Outlaws soccer team made big strides this year, and went from a 21st-ranked team in state last year to 10th in the state this year. In any normal year, the top 20 teams would advance to state playoffs, but with the reduced season and COVID-19 restrictions this year, they are only taking the top eight, which means the Outlaws miss out by two.     The Lady Outlaws won their first two games of the 4A 2021 Showcase and then fell in the championship game to Sweet Home. Lady Outlaws endured a four-and-a-half hour bus ride to Corbett on Tuesday, April 6, and played in a very warm gym which proved to be a challenge in their first game.     Sisters hosted La Pine on Friday, April 2, and the Hawks proved to be more than the Outlaws could handle. The Outlaws fell in a final score of 22-15. Teams started out slow and the game was scoreless at the close of the first quarter. La Pine fired on all cylinders in the second quarter.     The Outlaws football squad honored their seniors prior to their game against La Pine on Friday, April 2. Senior players include Hayden Sharp, Hunter Spor, Garrett Vohs, Nate Weber, Cameron Wessel, Nathaniel Alvarez, Hudson Jones, Adam Rollins, Dillon Tucker, Collin Fischer, Camden Froehlich, and Will Grace.     The Outlaws boys tennis squad graduated seven seniors last year, and this year are looking for more players to round out their roster. Only two varsity players return to the squad — seniors Nate Weber and KJ Sweet. Weber is back for his final year.     The Lady Outlaws soccer squad wrapped up league play with a 4-1 record and a second-place finish, with their only loss to league rival Philomath.     Sisters couldn’t overcome league rival Sweet Home in their last match of the season on Wednesday, March 31. The Outlaws fell in three sets with scores of 13-25, 17-25, and 21-25. The loss means Sisters and Sweet Home were crowned co-champs. It was a quick first set and the Huskies easily posted the win. The Outlaws had seven missed serves, and only four kills and two blocks.     The boys soccer squad suffered losses in both their games last week: a 1-3 loss at Philomath on Tuesday, March 23, and a 0-7 loss to Summit on Thursday.     The boys tennis team is looking for more players to round out their roster. They currently just have five signed up, and only two with previous tennis experience. Anyone interested can sign up at www.familyid.com and, if a student is already involved in a sport, the information will automatically transfer.
