  • It’s all about control

    When I see a children’s hospital or St. Jude commercial on the TV, it brings tears to my eyes along with this thought: “But for the grace of God there go I.” There are so many of these needed charitable organizations, and each one seems to bring a tear to one’s eye, from seeing disabled soldiers to listening to a mother of four describe her life struggles after losing her husband in the Twin Towers tragedy.   • Excessive tenure of elected officials must end

    I have been an advocate of term limits for as long as I can remember. The thought sickens me that members of Congress are allowed to serve so long — like the late Senator Strom Thurman (R) for 48 years, Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, (D) 34 years, Senator Mitch McConnell, (R) 36 years, Lindsey Graham (R) 30 years, and we can’t forget Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D), 30 years.
