Sisters High School softball Coach Dave Smith says the Outlaws softball program is alive and well, and that plans for the 2017 season are underway. In a season that almost wasn't due to a lack of players, the Outlaws got a late start and won just two of 18 games. Sisters High School (SHS) was in jeopardy of not fielding a softball team for the first time in nearly 20 years, but a final last-minute recruiting push will enable SHS to field a 2016 varsity team. Dave Smith, a former youth softball coach and retired California deputy sheriff, has been named Sisters High School's varsity softball coach. Amanda Smith is discovering how important extra effort is. She has seen it pay off during her sophomore softball season at Sisters High School when she was named second-team all-Sky-Em League. The Sisters High School varsity softball team ran into a pair of powerhouse opponents last week and quickly learned why Sweet Home and Elmira are atop the Sky-Em League standings.
