    Tom Mauldin|Updated Mar 26, 2013

The Sisters High School (SHS) varsity softball team is off to a good start in preparing for the start of Sky-Em League play on April 1, when the Outlaws host Cottage Grove. The Outlaws opened the season with a 7-6 loss to Madras, but rebounded with a pair of wins over Bend schools. Behind the pitching of senior Cassidy Edwards, SHS defeated Summit, 7-2. Tom Mauldin|Updated Mar 5, 2013

Ben Miller's first week as head softball coach at Sisters High School was similar to the first weeks of his predecessors. Former Sisters High School standout running back Cory McCaffrey was on hand Friday night when Aloha's Thomas Tyner broke the ex-Outlaw's Oregon high school record for most rushing yards in a season. Tyner gained 161 yards in Aloha's second-round 6A playoff loss to West Salem High School (59-46) to give him a single-season best of 3,402, bettering McCaffrey's 2006 season total of 3,335. Tyner set the state's all-time single-season rushing record on a 50-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. He also scored six touchdowns... Full story

  • Schools focus on 'positive coaching'

    Tom Mauldin|Updated Jan 13, 2009

One of the definitions of "positive" is to: Eliminate Negative. Develop a Positive and Proactive Attitude. Coaching legends Phil Jackson and Dean Smith, Olympic Gold medalists Dot Richardson and Summer Sanders, former U.S. Senator Bill Bradley, and former Green Bay Packer Ken Ruettgers share the same definition of "positive" as Sisters High School principal and coach Bob Macauley. Each is a member of the Positive Coaching Alliance. And they all share the same belief of emphasizing character building and life lessons through... Full story
