The tournament roster included 47 teams, 15 more than expected by tournament directors. They came from the local area and from as far away as Coos Bay in... Full story

To the Editor: I am an avid horseback trail rider who loves to ride the wonderful horse trails on Peterson Ridge. These trails are used by local equestrians, as well as by folks who trailer from all over Central Oregon to enjoy the beautiful forest and spectacular mountain views. The horse trails are completely separate from the mountain bike trail system on Peterson Ridge, in order to ensure the safety of the horseback riders and to keep the horses' hooves from damaging the tread of the bike trails. Unfortunately, some... Full story

It is said that if you want to learn about a given subject, the best thing to do is teach it. That's what 50 high school biology students were doing last Friday afternoon with second graders at Sisters Elementary School. In previous weeks the students, members of Rima Givot's biology class at the high school, studied classification, structure and function of plants. Then the students each picked a plant to research and applied the general knowledge they'd learned to... Full story

"They never notified us or anyone else they had a skin issue." O'Brien stated confidently that the staph infection did not come from the Sisters wrestlers and noted that they disinfect the mats every day when they... Full story
With pun fully intended, I believe a running movement is afoot in Sisters Country. Since the start of the year and the resurrection of my own running career, I have encountered many people around town who ask me about running. They want to know about races, about how to train, and what running events we might be able to get started here in Sisters. I am thrilled. Let me explain. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, a running boom took place all across America and it had its root... Full story
