    Deschutes County Sheriff's Office personnel deployed a robot and a muzzled canine to resolve a situation that evolved out of an attempt to serve a warrant in the Tollgate subdivision on Tuesday morning, March 20.   • Airport/ODOT dispute headed to court

    A year ago, the Oregon Department of Transportation sent a demand letter to Benny and Julie Benson, owners of Sisters Eagle Airport, seeking the repayment of $377,152 in ConnectOregon V grant funds and payment of an additional $13,033 to meet the minimum requirement for matching funds for grants entered into in 2015.   • Citizens to vote on marijuana businesses

    Residents who live within Sisters city limits will have the opportunity in the November 2018 general election to vote on whether or not marijuana-related businesses should be allowed in the city and whether a three percent tax should be levied on the sales.     Sisters Rodeo has selected Bullfighter Rowdy Barry as the 2018 Grand Marshal of the Rodeo Parade to honor his decades of dedication to the sport and 25 years of "membership" in the Sisters Rodeo family.     Sisters City Council concurred with the recommendation of the Sisters Art Selection Committee and voted unanimously to select Danae Bennett Miller's art proposal, "A Land of Contrasts," for the roundabout at the Highway 20/Barclay Avenue intersection.     The boys tennis squad played their first match of the season at Ridgeview on Thursday March 15, and battled through light hail, a bit of wind and rain, and in the end lost the contest 6-2.     The boys lacrosse team pulled off an exciting 10-9 win in overtime against Forest Grove on Saturday, March17, and a day earlier steamrolled over Hillsboro in an 8-1 victory. Sisters scored eight goals on 40 shots in their win over Hillsboro on Friday.     A three-way meet in Bend in cold conditions was not the type of competition where coaches and athletes expect great marks, but the Sisters Outlaws saw some bright spots in the first outing of the season.     The Outlaws were glad to get outside and play on an actual course this past week. The boys played in the Tokatee Invitational on Tuesday, March 13, and the girls participated in the Crooked River Ranch Icebreaker a day later.
