The Oregon Court of Appeals, on Wednesday, March 16, upheld a Deschutes County Circuit Court decision in favor of the Eagle Air Estates Homeowners Association in a long-running battle with homeowner plaintiffs Michael and Janet Morgan and Cydnie Harp over "reversionary interest" in the adjacent Sisters Airport. What began as a story for her Swedish-Finn family has now grown into two popular books. “Mainly, it was just done for family on a lark,” said author and Black Butte Ranch resident Agnes Rands. She recently self-published her second book, “Even Seagulls Cry.” Rands began her account of her immigrant parents with “Where the Huckleberries Grow.” Her parents grew up in the Swedish-speaking section of Finland, married in Portland and then moved to the logging camps of Northwest Washington where Rands was born. Last week, youngsters at A Joyful Noise Preschool were treated to the excitement of a giant excavator ripping up the sidewalk in preparation for an 888-square-foot expansion. The preschool is located on Adams Avenue. The addition will contain a playroom, kitchen, closet, entry and restroom. The remodel will increase the capacity to 27 children.... Full story
Sisters area residents Keith and Connie Cyrus and the Cyrus Living Trust have filed three claims totaling $37 million against Deschutes County. The claims were filed under Measure 37, approved by Oregon voters last year.
