  • Sisters to get $1.2 million traffic signal

    In the wake of a pair of serious accidents at the intersection of Barclay Drive and Highway 20 at the west end of Sisters, planners have started work on installing a traffic signal at that location. Sisters City Planning Director Brian Rankin has received a cost estimate of $1.2 million from the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) for the Barclay Drive signal.   • Party raises funds for senior program

    Last Sunday evening was like a large family get-together at Sisters Movie House. The community pulled together for a fund-raiser for this year's high school seniors. In a long standing tradition, each year the community arranges a drug-and-alcohol-free party for the high school's graduating seniors. A packed theater and lobby Sunday night proved that the serious business of insuring a safe and successful graduation party can create a fun-filled event for the adults, as well.   • Boys golf program returns veteran players

    The Sisters High School boys golf team will return four of its varsity players from last year, including seniors Miles Johnston, Kyler Miller and Billy Jacobson and junior Evan Mitchell. Last year, Mitchell was a highly consistent player for the Outlaws and played at the number two position.     Deschutes County District Attorney Michael Dugan has denied Sisters resident Mike Morgan's request for the release of minutes and/or audio recordings related to the district's homeschool program at Sonrise Christian School (now Sisters Christian Academy).   • Sisters man impacts national education policy

    Sisters resident Scott Pillar recently returned from Washington D.C. where he attended the Federal Relations Network Conference hosted by the National School Boards Association. Pillar is the Board Chairman of the High Desert Education Service District in Redmond and serves as a board member of the Oregon School Boards Association in Salem. One goal of the conference was to encourage legislators and cabinet members to make positive changes to the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) which is up for reauthorization this year.... Full story
