Rumors about the Bi-Mart store slated to fill the former site of Ray's Food Place have been swirling through Sisters for weeks. Like most spates of rumors, this one seems to feed on the absence of concrete facts. Both Bi-Mart managers and Helmut Junge, the owner of Three Wind Shopping Center have been tightlipped about the project, declining comment until a lease is signed. That had been expected sometime around the first of the year; that timeline has obviously been pushed... Full story

Just before six a.m. and dawn not quite breaking, I wasn't exactly sure, my alarm clock was unplugged from vacuuming the day before. I finally rolled out and headed for the bathroom. Hmmm. No lights. Maybe it wasn't the vacuum that darkened my alarm. Inventory: Did I pay the electric bill? Check. Rodent in my underground line? Nope, Sisters in the distance was darker than normal, too. This was a big outage. I padded into the kitchen to get my flashlight and make a cup ... oh. Right. Electric coffee pot. Hah! I have a propane... Full story
To the Editor: I am writing this as an open letter to my neighbors in Panoramic. About two weeks ago, a neighbor's dog was hit and killed. The owners of the pet found her on the road, dead. They know that she should not have been running around, but there are many dogs that do in Panoramic and always have. They are not complaining, I am. This could have easily been a deer or even a child. The purpose of this note is to ask our neighbors to please slow down. Spring is upon us and we will soon have fawns crossing the roads. Man...
