After considering written input, citizen testimony, the results of a teachers work session, and considerable back-and-forth between board members, the school board on Wednesday night approved the 2010-11 school calendar. Sisters Little League opens the 2010 season on Saturday at 10 a.m. Twelve teams, 145 players and their parents and spectators will meet at the Sisters Community Church ball fields for opening-day ceremonies. "Teams must arrive, in uniform, by 9:45," said league board member David Banks. "They form with their team and coaches, take the Little League pledge, parade across home plate, and then we start games." Pitching and hitting has been the name of the game for the Sisters High School varsity softball team in recent weeks as a trio of recent wins earned the Outlaws a 4A state ranking and a Sky-Em League-opening victory. Since winning three straight at their own tournament, the Outlaws have defeated Sky-Em rival Junction City 11-0 and took a pair from future Sky-Em League opponent Sweet Home, winning 8-2 and 10-2. Sisters AllPrep Academy has shut down effective Friday, April 9. The Sisters School District terminated the charter of the Sisters Web Academy run by the troubled AllPrep charter school organization last winter, but had signed a memorandum allowing it to continue through the school year to avoid disruption of student education.
