Six Sisters youths have been arrested in connection with a series of break-ins at Sisters businesses. A 16-year-old Sisters youth has been charged with rape in connection with an incident that occurred last February 6, at SOAR (Sisters Organization for Activities and Recreation). The 16-year-old male was charged as an adult. The alleged victim is a 12-year-old girl. Central Electric Cooperative (CEC) is planning to build a new substation in Tollgate over the next two years. Tollgate residents will get a look at the preliminary design and proposed work schedule at a meeting on Wednesday, April 23, from 7 to 8 p.m., at the Tollgate Recreation Hall. The wind howled, snowflakes flew intermittently, but the hardy folks who attended the Small Farmers Journal Horsedrawn Auction & Swap Meet last weekend walked around the Sisters Rodeo grounds with smiling faces. The girls tennis team finished fourth out of six teams at the Madras Invitational on Saturday, April 19. Hood River dominated in both the singles and doubles matches to finish first with 16 points. The boys golf team earned a second-place finish in their lone league match for the week. The Outlaws finished with a team score of 321, seven strokes behind Marist, their biggest league foe, that took first-place honors (314). With their bats remaining hot, the Sisters High School varsity girls softball team won two of three games the week of April 14-18 to move into third place in Sky-Em League standings. The Outlaws track teams enjoyed fair weather and a lot of success at last Thursday's three-team home meet versus La Pine and Junction City. As the team prepares for the most competitive part of the season, a relatively laid-back triangular meet was just what coach Bob Johnson's tracksters needed. Supporters of the Sparrow Club charity last weekend braved the bitter cold and an occasional snow flurry to attend the third annual Fly-Fishing & Golf Derby. The event was a benefit for Sparrow Clubs USA, a national non-profit organization made up of school-based clubs that offer a helping hand to children in medical crisis. The Lady Outlaws golf team earned a first-place finish at Middleton Golf Course for their third straight win of the season and then earned a second place finish at Broken Top in Bend two days later. The lacrosse team suffered a disappointing 14-6 loss to Summit at home on Tuesday, April 15 and then fell 17-12 to Westview on Friday, three days later. Sisters was unable to set the rhythm in Tuesday's game and played to Summit's strengths. "Personally, I think this was a great loss for our team," said Coach Bill Rexford. Sisters crafters came together last Thursday to gain insight on the quilting skills that the women of Gee's Bend, Alabama have developed over the last 150 years. The event was the second and last Talkies of the 2008 season and benefited the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show. Quilt show founder Jean Wells-Keenan oversaw the occasion. For years a ponderosa pine tree has poked up through the roof of the stables at Eagle Bear Ranch on Crooked Horseshoe Road near Sisters. Dan and TK Schnell built the stables to accommodate the tree and tried to keep it thriving. On any given day in Camp Sherman, you can see loving mates walking through the woods following other couples similarly engaged - who are not necessarily legally married. They're geese. Robert Cantrell passed away December 4, 2007, in Bend. He was 80. Bob was born April 30, 1927, in Polk, Arkansas, to George and Camie Cantrell.
