  • Caution needed in burning season

    Burning season is on in the Sisters Country - but spring conditions can make burning dangerous. On Tuesday, April 22, Cloverdale Fire District responded to a report of an open debris pile burning next to a building in windy conditions. Five firefighters responded with a brush truck and a water tender to extinguish the fire. According to Fire Chief Thad Olson, this was the third fire of this type firefighters from Cloverdale responded to that week. An additional similar fire was reported last week.   • Golfers shoot it out across Sisters

    A little wind, a little rain, a little snow - the vagaries of a Sisters Country spring did not deter the 308 golfers who rolled into town last weekend for the Central Oregon Shootout. The annual event featured two-person teams playing multiple rounds in a round-robin format at three Sisters Country courses: Black Butte Ranch, Aspen Lakes, and Eagle Crest.   • Rezoning plan remanded to planning commission

    On the recommendation of staff, the Sisters City Council remanded the proposed of portions of Peter Hall's Three Sisters Business Park back to the planning commission for review. Community Development Director Pauline Hardie cited a significant difference between the presentations given to the planning commission and later to the City council as the reason for the recommendation to return this request to the planning commission.     The boys tennis team wrapped up league with wins over Henley and St. Mary's at Henley's home court at OIT on Saturday, April 26. Sisters defeated St. Mary's 5-3 and was even with Henley with four matches each but beat them 9-8 in sets. Paul Fullhart (No. 1 singles) had a solid performance in his 6-4, 7-6 (7-2 tiebreak) win over Avery Kerwin of St. Mary's.     With only the power of a light bulb, KZSO radio (94.9 LP-FM) is coming back from a near-death experience and lighting up the airwaves around Sisters with music, news, weather and local information, 24-7.     Sisters defeated Cottage Grove (CG) 8-1 at home on Tuesday, April 22. The victory marked the Outlaws' 40th consecutive league win. The Outlaws lead the league with a 7-0 record and are currently ranked No. 1 in the state. Jarden Weems did a fantastic job on the mound. Weems went the distance and struck out 11 batters and only had one walk in the contest.     Local firefighters put in two days of live fire training hosted by the Cloverdale fire district last weekend. On Saturday, April 26, members of several local fire departments met on the north end of Quail Tree Lane in Cloverdale to hone their skills.
