  • Woman faces theft charge

    Brianna Schneibel of Sisters has been indicted on a first-degree theft charge after a year-long investigation into her actions as a volunteer bookkeeper for Little Cloverdale Preschool. Schneibel is accused of diverting just under $2,000 in school funds for her own use, including paying personal bills. She was arrested on April 30. According to Deschtues County Sheriff's Office reports, an outgoing president of the Little Cloverdale Preschool Board of Directors noticed financial irregularities in the books and called police... Full story

  • Four Lady Outlaws golfers named all-league

    Four players from the girls golf team were first team all-league selections this year, including seniors Shelby Ross and Emily Rawls, junior Stephanie Cole and freshman Hannah Harrer. Ross finished her fourth year on the varsity squad and this season shot a career best 74 during the regular season at the Middlefield Golf Course in Cottage Grove.   • Golfers earn four all-league selections

    Elio Keller, a foreign exchange student from Switzerland, was a first team all-league selection, and juniors Jonathan Standen, Cody Farr-Baenziger and Jeff Fought earned second team all-league recognition. Keller recorded a career-best 76 at the Tokatee Golf Course at the District Tournament and repeated that score at the Quail Valley Golf Course at the state tournament.   • Sisters quilters create key props for play

    To stage a play titled "Quilters," you need quilts. Of course, quilts are not hard to come by in Sisters, where a group of some 25 "Heritage Quilters" created traditional quilts to be featured in the musical which will be presented at Sisters High School on Tuesday, July 7 at 7 p.m. and on Friday, July 10 at 1 p.m. in conjunction with Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show.   • Folk festival accepting songwriting entries

    The Sisters Folk Festival is now accepting entries for the 2009 Dave Carter Memorial Songwriting Contest. The contest carries a $750 grand prize. The five finalists will perform in the contest during the Sisters Folk Festival, which runs September 11-13 in Sisters. Entries may be made electronically through SonicBids.
