    Don't call them clowns. Rodeo bullfighters are stars in their own right, and have one of the most demanding jobs in the sport. They're as athletic as the cowboys they protect.   • Traffic relief may depend on parking

    Sisters business owners may go along with taking parking off Cascade Avenue to improve traffic flow -- but only if 100 parking spaces are found elsewhere. Parking concerns were raised as a caution flag at a workshop of the Citizens' Advisory Committee working on Sisters' Transportation System Plan on Tuesday, May 30. Bob Grooney, who owns The Gallimaufry on Cascade Avenue, cautioned that business support for change would most likely hinge on parking.   • Sisters fires spark arson investigation

    Six suspicious fires in the Sisters area have ignited more than some local acreage. They've also sparked the attention of the Central Oregon Arson Task Force. "The frequency of fires in that short window of time raised a big red flag for us," said Ron Pugh, Resident Forest Special Agent and Task Force coordinator, Five trained arson investigators took a close look at the burn sites.   • Sisters High School graduates Class of 2000

    The 52nd commencement of Sisters High School elicited both tears and cheers from the audience and graduates as a total of 92 students graduated Friday, June 2, at the ceremony held in the high school gym. Associated Student Body President Julieanna Little warmly welcomed the families and friends who had come to join the celebration. Following introductions, 12 seniors performed Sara McLachlan's "I Will Remember You," which set the tone for an emotional evening.   • Sisters man arrested on rape charges

    Steven Gage of Sisters was arrested on Friday, June 2 at about 2 p.m. by Oregon State Police. Gage was indicted by a secret Deschutes County Grand Jury earlier that day on 45 counts for actions related to his operation of Royal Haven Equestrian Center for Girls, a home for "troubled" teen females that operated in Sisters until last Christmas.
